This idea came from this topic not a few minutes ago. I already know that most house capitols leave quite a fair amount of debris because they've finally been divided into components. But I think the winning side sould have something to show for it. Can we have the debris to remain in the system for a longer period? Say an hour or a half?
As for other capitol ships that are still one piece. We can do one of two things. We can create a 'wrecked' version of that ship that will replace the player's ship once their vessel has been disabled. Another option is not allowing the ship to be destroyed, but letting it remain as a solid piece of debris/wreck.
Is this possible? And is it more work than it's worth?
If we leave wrecks floating in space for long periods of time, I suspect every major battle will crash the server. There are a number of skirmishes each day that blow up into full scale battles. Just having a battle too large can scuttle the server. Adding more tasks for it will surely do it.
That said, I think it would be nice to see. Definitely give you an 'Uh oh' moment when you come across a major scene of ship carnage and no culprits in sight.
nah, while it's a nice idea i can see some systems getting crowded with wrecks.
