So i read about the mining update and got excited. Decided to brush off my salvager and hit the fields. Found the field in New Berlin, starting getting huge yields. Thought to my self, "this is fantastic!".
Then went to pitts and sold it. Still only 599 a unit. Really? Other people are getting the same yields mining Stuff and making 8k-14k a unit.
Do they devs actually want junkers to scrap mine?
Why should I waste my time mining for the same time, and jumping the same amount of systems, for a profit that is 77% less?

The difference i have seen is when mining for silver or copper ore you only get a couple off each rock, the scrap on the other hand gives shed loads. I was mining in Texas and filling my slavager in under 10 minutes. Had a go at copper ore and man was that slow. Gave up with only 300 in my hold after 30 minutes:(
I had an idea posted in the mod discussion forum, the basis being that scrap recycling should be expanded on. Basically a Junker would take his scrap haul to a smelter specialising in recycling, from where he buys steel, alloys and whatnot, which then are distributed to various heavy industrial places around Sirius. I considered a refit of Culebra smelter a good place to go. FLhook could be utilised to alter the sale price of the scrap and buy prices of the recycled metals based upon IFF, ID, etc to give "mates rates" bonuses to Junkers and allies.
But, currently, scrap collection produces very little income. I tried it in the *Negra clouds in Texas and actually lost money because of the damage sustained vs. a paltry 307cr per unit at Culebra.
