[LN]-Gold-X, where X is a prime number except zero and one.
-Description:
Not much is known about Gold Wing, even to those at the highest levels of the Liberty Navy. It appears that the pilots within the wing are both highly skilled and armed to the teeth, suggesting an excessive amount of resources goes into both the ships that the pilots themselves operate and a presumably extensive and well-equipped support team.
However, Gold Wing has often acted without the knowledge of the members of Joint Chiefs of Command. In addition, the Liberty Navy has often denied knowledge of or even directly condemned the actions of this unit. This has led a few to speculate that they are a rogue unit, but their scarcity means that there have been no recorded engagements between regular Liberty Navy forces and this unit.
-[Out of roleplay] Recruitment:
See this link for details. Only current members of the [LN] may apply for membership of Gold Wing, but there is no rank requirement whatsoever.
[LN]-LLS-(shipname), where (shipname) is the christened name of the Logistics ship.
-Description:
Liberty Logistics Ships are a part of the Logistics Corps of the Liberty Navy's First Fleet. These ships, commonly mammoths, are built and maintained by the military might of Liberty. There are a few repair ships also in service with the Logistics corps. These ships are well outfitted for both transport and combat, as military logistics is a prime strategic target for hostile forces, both foreign and domestic.
Crews of these ships are well drilled in warfare; trained in advanced fire control, basic firearms and second-class hand-to-hand. Pirate raiders have often been surprised by the military-grade weaponry employed by the mammoth transports as well as the force deployed by the crews of these ships in repelling boarding parties.
Charged with supporting the Liberty Navy's fighting forces by moving supplies to and from the front lines as well as bases of operation, the Liberty Logistics Corps never operates any of its mammoth transport ships without fighter escorts assigned to them.
Logistics ships often include humanitarian goods in their schedules at the behest of their supervisors, moving goods around Bretonia such as Pharmaceuticals. They would also move humanitarian goods in Kusari, but at the request of the Emperor, Logistics ships are only permitted to Yokohama shipyard, which is only a consumer and producer of products associated with ship construction.
In short, it is the job of the Logistics Corps to keep the men and women fighting at the front well supplied with the fruits of labour from the houses of Liberty, Bretonia and, on occassion, Kusari.
[LN]-LNF-(shipname), where (shipname) is the christened name of the Freighter.
-Description:
The First Fleet Freighter Corps is a subdivision of the Liberty Navy's First Fleet that is comprised solely of freighters, currently the DL-Hai "Grizzly" Liberty Shuttle only. This shuttle, though originally brought into being by the Liberty Police Incorporated, has found use in ferrying smaller loads of marines and commodities that are too small for the Logistics Corps to handle.
The Freighter Corps is often charged with the secure delivery of precious cargo from one place to another, sometimes through hostile territory. So far, the Freighter Corps has maintained a high success rate due to the armour, longevity and agility provided by the Grizzly. Captains of these freighters also tend to be demolitions experts, allowing them to quickly hole a seemingly impenetrable bulkhead. This is useful in a variety of roles, not least of which is the boarding of a hostile ship or station.
The main reason that the Freighter Corps and the Logistics Corps have not merged, however, is that the Grizzly is an escort ship unto itself. Freighter Corps ships can by found escorting mammoths belonging to logistics if no fighter escorts are available, and have more than once ensured the safety of said mammoths against enterprising pirate captains. These freighters have also been seen tangling with enemy gunboats, with which they have had surprising success, indicating a level of underestimation by hostile pilots.
Unsurprisingly, the Freighter Corps is, compared to the Logistics Corps, very small. The Liberty Navy requires many goods in bulk, so the services rendered by the Freighter Corps are highly specialized. They are never-the-less an important cog in the war-machine that is the Liberty Navy, and play their part admirably.

-Description:
In the near two decades since the end of "The First Nomad War", The Liberty Navy has initiated many different projects and programs of a classified nature, some of which were directly related to different facets of Nomad Research, and others geared toward clandestine military operations meant to improve the state of Libertonian National Security regarding a slew of different threats throughout the Sirius sector, without dragging The Republic into a fullscale war.
In recent times however, The Department of Defense has faced budget cuts, with many Libertonian politicans being overconfident and content to believe that The Libertonian Armed Forces is "The best in Sirius" and therefore that it no longer needs the increasingly large budget it has enjoyed in years past.
The First Fleet's answer to this, in order to maintain operational efficiency in the face of budget and support cuts, was the formation of the External Security and Research Division, a unit which was formed by combining most of the units in the First Fleet's Special Operations Command, with those belonging to the First Fleet's scientific research departments.
Such a combination allows for the merging of budget allotments, the hope being to reduce the effects of budget cuts on what the Navy sees as some of it's most important programs.
Additionally, combining the Special Forces and Science Divisions has proven to be an advantage when it comes to sharing critical or new information with units operating in the field, whose missions were previously affected in an adverse manner due to a lack of appropriate information.
