what was the trader in?

trying to beggar yourself, or pirating low level traders?

It only takes a second to target and hit trade, but you better turn away from teh trade lane. You can thank the players entering trade and opening fire and/or staying docked with disabled trade lane and stalling with trade so they can zoom away.
Running away or keeping trying to dock with trade lane is an answer to me. He could have easily said ok and instead of wait. In fact, its two keystrokes less.

My demand was also very low, it was 100k. I'm very fair with the amount I demand.

A few points:
1) I did nothing to "inch closer" to the trade lane. If you had it disrupted and for those 20 seconds of afk my ship bumped into it... maybe that explains it. Maybe my "wait wait" and "i was afk" explain that too?

2) It would take me more than a few seconds to target you and hit Trade because I don't even know the hot key for trading.

3) I couldn't say "OK" to your demands when I didn't see what you had typed and you didn't give me time to pull up the chat log.

4) Your demand was reasonable and I'd have paid it had I seen it.

For the record I was in a Camara, 345 cargo space, first character on disco, first character in MP for that matter. You couldn't know this in advance of course and I don't blame you for pirating a noob in his mining ship, but you certainly could have let such a small fish as I have a few seconds to figure out what you wanted when I twice requested you wait because I was afk when the attack began.

We had a good conversation after, I don't hold any anger, I just came here to clarify the protocol and the trade lane blockage.

If u were ( and u probably were) on auto pilot with auto dock option before u left your keyboard, with trade lane rupted your ship will stop waiting for trade lane to get back online. While your dock initiated u cannot move your ship. It will stop near trade lane and just wait. Simply press free flight button and your ship will stop waiting and u will regain control.

hotkey is u...you can set it to anything in the controls...

i guess 100k is reasonable in a camara....but, then, in a camara, you could have run pretty easily...

nice choice in a freighter, by the way.

Yeah I like the Camara, although I wasn't in much position to run at that time:)

When a trader is around the level 40 mark, I don't like demanding tons of money because I'd rather not clear them out.

If someone isn't responding or moving, I assume they're afk before I jump to the conclusion that they are just ignoring me. Even if I'm in a dogfight and someone stops firing and is in engine kill floating away, I quit firing because I know that they are either red-lagging or trying to type something. There's no fun in killing someone under these unscrupulous circumstances. Maybe I'm too empathetic, but I can't change that (nor would I want to.)
