Name: “Noboru” Zed-3 Callsign: \CS\-Noboru.3 Age: 17 Gender: Male Place of Origin: Takeo, Saga Landmass, Kyshu. Former Occupation: Civilian Intended uses: Shipboard/Planetside Combat, Sabotage. Special Ops.
Specialties:
Subject is exceptionally useful at combat involving close contact with enemies, both biological and mechanical. He is effective at neutralizing both with his unique talents (discussed in the next section.) Such talents also lend themselves toward possible tactical insertions for the purposes of sabotage, guerilla warfare, or extended surveillance with little to no Consortium support. Subject is an intelligent, self-supportive unit with excellent combat capabilities designed to be able to subsist in the wild by himself without any weapons or support, almost as a part of the ecosystem. Surveillance, however, is advised for five cycles after beginning of active field duty.
Mutations/Enhancements/Abilities: The subject has undergone extensive mutation and cybernetic enhancement. While his body was being force-grown and mutated, several traits were spliced into his genome.
1. Most of his muscle mass was rebuilt to form, and then further muscles tailored to grow in, intertwined groups of three microcell muscle strands, assisted and bound by nanocells, increasing both density, flexibility, and potential strength. This process is still in the experimental development stage, given that it is, as it stands, ineffective for enhancing voluminous amounts of muscle due to a volume/strength ratio that decreases with relative size.
1a. This process was chosen for the subject due to the fact that it could reduce his body mass while keeping the same muscle power that could be added by other, more conventional muscle enhancement processes. It was determined to be in the best interests of the subject to maintain his slight build and allow mobility to be capitalized on as a strength. This may or may not be paralleled in future subjects, depending on optimal genetic configurations.
2. His eyes and optic nerves were replaced totally with synthetically grown organs modeled after those of a Gaian sea-lion which is renowned for its exceptional eyesight both in the water and out of it due to a relatively unique formation of dual-lenses. They are somewhat wider, and appear totally clear except for the blue lens which is placed roughly at the center where the iris should normally be. It should be noted that this lens does not have a hole in the center.
3. Immediately noticeable is an exponential increase of vertebral and digital bone mass. These were force-grown with a calcium phosphate infusion and genetic shepherding. Specialized living callous was forcibly grown elsewhere and patched onto the protrusions using grafting techniques. It takes on a black, scaly appearance due to the abundance of a multifunction carbon-iron pigment that will be described in section three. Both the vertebral spines (approximately one per vertebrae, more prominent at the back of the neck and less so at the base of the back, all with some additional spines originating from the same base point but pointing in different directions) and the six flexible “claws” on his enlarged, bony hands serve purposes as offensive melee weapons, but also are integral to the system that will be described below. His face was also modified slightly internally to allow for better eyesight rang, with the structure taken from a reptilian denizen of Planet Miura and mixed in part with his human genes, resulting in a slightly alien visage allows for a very wide range of eyesight, about three-hundred degrees in all, with the sixty degrees being centered behind his head. His external ears were also replaced with those of a Gaian animal, that being an obscure species of hairless bovine that dwells in the equatorial mist swamps and primarily relies on hearing to survive. As a result of all this, he has a significantly less than human appearance, but is optimally suited for close combat and survival in the wild.
4. The aforementioned carbon-iron pigment that is contained in the grafted skin is made so that it replaces the iron in that binds to hemoglobin within the “red blood cells,” or erythrocytes, within his blood stream. This increases the overall size of the cell, and thus nanosurgery (performed by generic multipurpose nanocells already within his bloodstream) was required to enlarge the capillaries and other smaller bloodways of the body. This was all cost effective, however.
4a. The carbon-iron pigment is unique in that it has a polar magnetism - that is, it supports the one-way flow of electromagnetic energy. The exact orientation of the particles can be changed through subconscious programs embedded in the nanocells of the body, which exert a slight magnetic pulse themselves to reorient the pigment. This manifests itself as a sort of “instinct,” as the subject describes it, an innate in the subject.
4b. The pigment is capable of absorbing and containing radiation or energy due to its carbon structure, but the iron functional group also allows it to distribute said radiation or energy when the iron functional group is manipulated by said subconscious nanocell processes. As it is configured now, this allows a direct line of energy to be transferred between molecules across the body.
5. The spines and the fingers of the subject are considered the “polar ends” of his electromagnetic collection and dispersion systems. The pigments on the spines are pointed to direct energy outward from the body in their “passive” mode, while the pigments in the fingers and hands are also keyed outward. When the subject moves to “active” mode, both ends’ flow are reverse inward, but to the palms of his oversized hands, wherein is contained a matrix of bone and carbon-iron pigment that functions as a repository for the now-contained electromagnetic radiation. During the more “active” phases, when the intake of electromagnetic energy allows for the results described in point 6, the pigments in his fingers, spines, and veins will glow a particular color, depending on the particular wavelengths of the energy he is taking in, as the pigments attached to his erythrocytes are charged by the transiting electromagnetic energy.
6. When the subject is in an environment high in electromagnetic energy and reverts to “active mode,” or he actively seeks to take in particles and energy through self-ionization of all nearby particles, he will begin to build up energy in the matrixes on his hands, enough to release it in a form of a bolt that either functions in a way a lighting bolt might roughly work, or discharges on direct contact of his spines or fingers with a conductive object.
6a. The subject is able to survive high-radiation environments, or those normally fatal to humans due to high concentrations of energy or energized particles; if he reverts to “active” mode to take in the radiation or particles that might otherwise harm him considerably. He eventually is required to discharge this energy in some way, shape, or form, before he is unable to take in any more and his iron-carbon pigments are fully charged.
7. Given that the subject was force-grown from an infant stage for exactly fifteen years, his neurocyte network is quite well built into his brain, along with several other implants that allow him control over his nanocell processes and sub-processes as outlined above. He has undergone extensive training for the past two years under Consortium Blackwatch units, and is now considered able enough for field duty under surveillance. His emotions are regulated minimally, as the generally negative effects have been negated through grooming or erasing, but also because they are known to increase his effectiveness in combat. He has hidden subroutines built in that will override his actions and emotions if they interfere with Consortium directive.
8. Cybernetic enhancements were integrated and upgraded into his body as he grew through the processes. They include his neurocyte - which was implanted as soon as he was returned to a Consortium facility - his subconscious process controllers, coordination implants, and whatever other programming that might be added to his mind in various locations with small implants. A jack was added to the base of his neck, and similar jacks were placed at the center of his back-spines just recently, which allows him to neurally integrate himself into specially machines. They are additionally designed to assist the flow of particles and energy from his spines into his bloodstream when not relaying neural information.
Notes:
The subject’s name before he was captured was unknown and irrelevant. He was approximately three months old when the Consortium raid upon the farming town of Takeo took place, in 801 during the confusion following the end of the Nomad war and Kusari‘s reconstruction. He was taken by the Hunter units who infiltrated the community, specifically on the lookout for prime genetic specimens. Noboru Zed-3 was one of several taken. He was placed into a tank and force-grown into what he is today, with careful, slow, deliberate changes introduced during the process to mold him into the high-performance transhuman desired.
It should also be noted that he is currently still experiencing some trouble speaking, likely due to extended periods of his lifetime where his only method of communication was through the neurocyte network. Even though he might appear it, in part to his trouble with speaking, and in further part to his extensive mutation and hybridization, he is not unintelligent - rather, he is quite intelligent.
