So, Dieter poked the RM about faction right 7, and it occurred to me that Terrance's LN guardian "Christopher Phelps" is pretty much only used for training. Dieter said something about making an event out of it, and I got thinking- if it's already used for training, why not go steal it? Special ops is what the Valkyrie Squadron is made for, and stealing a fighter for tactical training/analysis while at the same time attempting to possibly rob Liberty of one of its more brilliant tactical minds is right up their alley. Terrance reckons that me and Marisol can probably beat him if we team him, but to make the event not totally scripted a battle outside that could be going on to determine something else- like whether or not Phelps ends up on Vierlande or stays in Liberty.
So, here's the plan.
Valkyrie Squadron, including myself and Marisol, go into Liberty. We locate Phelps, who just so happens to be doing some training exercise with the Gold Wing at the time. Valkyrie Squadron (sans myself and Marisol) engage the Gold Wing, while myself and Marisol square off against Phelps. Once we get him to 20% hull or summat, we "disable" his ship and get it back to Rheinland somehow. I suggested making use of our Junker friend Evangeline McDowell, but we could just as easily say we have tow cables on our ships. Special ops and all that. Whoever's winning on the outer battle between the Valkyries and Gold Wing gets to keep his escape pod.
As for a time, about an hour from the time of this posting (it's currently a little after 5 AM GMT, so 6 AM GMT is when I have in mind) would be able to get most of the Valkyrie Squadron online. However, that's cuz we're all insomniacs... so if an earlier time is needed, it would probably be doable.
Thoughts?
EDIT: Yes I see that the time is bad now. Please suggest when you can do something like this.
Sounds like a good idea just want to point out a few things.
The whole thing that Terrance gets to keep his Guardian ship, even if approved by the LN high command, I think he would still be required to get a SRP. Not sure about that, personally, I don't really mind. Adds up for some more interesting Role-Play.

Wait, so you engage the Gold Wing and Phelps at the same time? I'm not following here.
"It's currently a little after 5 AM GMT, so 6 AM GMT is when I have in mind."
5 AM and 6 AM GMT is too extreme for us Europeans because that would basically mean I have to fight you fellas at around 7 AM. And that's when I wake up to go to school. xD
Also, as for the numbers, how do you want them? Realistic? That as many as we can get from both said wings show up or do you want it to be even? I know that the Valkyrie-wing has more members than the Gold-wing, that's why I'm asking. Although fighting with different numbers is fine by me, it's good to know in advance.
I know this timezone thing will be hard between American/Canadian and European players but I suggest doing this on a weekend where we have the freedom to be awake on more "odd" hours.
Quote:RIGHT 7) Official factions have the right for the purpose of training to equip a maximum of four (4) ships that are not normally allowed by their ID. (These would normally be their adverseries' ships.) This is subject to the following constraints:
-This can only apply to factions with Guard systems.
-They are restricted to the Guard system. If they are caught leaving, the ship gets deleted. The faction may replace it, but at their own expense.
-They cannot be used for any purpose except training. They may not be used against their adversaries.
-They will be equipped with Special Ops ID.
-Names of the ships must be clearly different to emphasize their special role; ie BAF|Trainer.001
-Restricted to GB or smaller size.
While not strictly necessary, the faction could host an event of some sort, with the capture or defection of the pilot and his ship being the central theme.
This is faction right #7. Phelps' guardian would become a training vessel for the RM.
As for the
Quote:"Valkyrie Squadron (sans myself and Marisol) engage the Gold Wing, while myself and Marisol square off against Phelps."
Wait, so you engage the Gold Wing and Phelps at the same time? I'm not following here.
"sans" is equivalent to "without" here, so it means that myself and Marisol will be fighting Phelps while everyone else in the Valkyrie Squadron goes up against the Gold Wing.
Time isn't so good, aye, though the Valkyries have done plenty of raids around that time. I'm open to suggestions. Us three that will be in our own private dance are on through pretty much the same time (10 PM GMT through to 7 AM GMT and sometimes later), so at least we don't really have to worry there.
Numbers-wise, balanced would be better, though I'm tempted to say "whoever you can get". Would certainly make things easier to arrange, and watching two Valks try and hold off the entire Gold Wing to give us enough time to beat Terrance could be... interesting.
[color=#FFCC66]I misunderstood your post sorry, I thought you meant you would use that Guardian vessel for recon operations within Liberty as part of the Valkyrie wing.
The primary reason you would see American players of the Valkyrie Wing (reference: timezone) go up against Gold Wing members during those other encounters was because of the holiday week many of us Europeans have right now. I don't know for the rest, but for me, that week is over and school is starting up again. Which probably was the reason why I could stay up til 4 AM. xD
We can discuss the specifics of the time later, but as I said, as long as it is during a weekend it will make things alot easier. As for the numbers, if hypothetically - 90% of the members from both wings decide to show up, it will mean that some of your fellas are forced to stay back. Might be an internal issue as to who should and should not participate, so I hope we naturally end up with same numbers. I would feel bad for stopping some of your pilots from not participating in an event because of balancing.
I'm all for doing an event like this, however doing an event like this meaning I have to wake up at five or six in the morning? Not so much...
GMT-0 is the time zone I live in... You seriously think I'm going to either stay up all night to get into a fight which will last two hours, or wake up at 5 in the morning?
Aside from that, count me in.
I think we currently have eight members of gold wing.
As much as I enjoy a quality brawl between two well organized teams, under these conditions, it's not gonna happen due to timezones. None of the Gold wing members will wake up at 6 in the morning to play freelancer.

Mephistoles
Time, yeah, that was just a throw out there. What would work for you guys? Weekends are fine by me, as are Wednesdays. Is there a time in the nine-hour span of 10 PM GMT through to 7 AM GMT that works?
If there's more Gold Wing than Valkyries, it'll be an interesting twist, but having more Valkyries than Gold Wing could be a problem, yes... fortunately (!) I rarely see more than four or five online at the same time, as we're rather well spread through various timezones/levels of insomnia.
If there's too many Valks, I'm sure we'll think of something. Do recon while Liberty's aces are distracted, something like that...
Suggestions on times would be good. I see a fair bit of GMT/GMT+1, when are y'all available?
I don't know if Gold Wing contains anything for me to play with (gunboat or larger). If they don't, Rall can kick Malexa in the balls for a Wraith for me to fly.
Additionally to that, the Alsatia already has hangars installed into her cargo bay and towing points welded to the chassis. So nicking off with the spoils would be a piece of cake.
I'm in Australia, +9:30. Make it on a weekend and I can drag my carcase out of bed early and/or keep it awake as long as required.:)
I think 6-10 PM GMT would be somewhat more sufficient. To my knowledge, that's the time when the European part of the wing is before going to sleep, while the American part just woke up. For one, I definitely won't be able to attend during the GMT midnight to morning period. Also, I think a weekday would be more suitable to avoid the lag.
This numbers balancing thing I've never been in favour of. Never really works when you balance 11vs11 (older events) when there is an imbalance of skill in the numbers.
That said, here things would be slightly more even...
There are what, 8 GW and 8 Valks.
That means 8+1 vs 6+2 (1x Terrance vs 2x Valk)
8vs6 is an uphill battle, but by no means a decided one.
And that's if everyone turns up...
It's also very interesting that there is no overlap at all between GW and Valk membership D: (not that I know of <_<)
If we do go with the balancing numbers though, I'd have no problem stepping out. I'd have some constant-ass lag, unless my housemate who torrents goes home on that weekend, which I do sincerely hope he does.
