I was playing through Starlancer when I had a bit of inspiration. Although I'm entirely incapable of modding, let alone modeling, this into Disco, I'm wondering if anybody would find it worthwhile enough to give it a shot, specifically the SCRA members.
The Sirius Coalition touts itself as "resurgent", yet is currently confined to small hit-and-run skirmishes. While their ships are indeed advanced, they lack the psychological impact of a massive Red Fleet the likes of which haven't been seen since 2160. Therefore, I think it would only be a matter of time before they decided to address this issue. While the Coalition might have limited resources, to me it'd make sense to make at least 'one' big ship, not only to actually have the hitting power and power projection benefits but also, and most importantly to any Communist regime, a big propaganda tool.
So I bring to you the Pukov Class:
Pardon the crappy doodle, but that's the gist of it.
The Pukov Class, named after the (in)famous CS Pukov, flagship of the Coalition First Fleet during the Sol War and probably the Coalition's most famous vessel in history, is a Battle Carrier. It's got more guns on it than most dreadnoughts around Sirius do; its job is to simply spew fighters into a scrap and then broadside the enemy fleet to death using a massive battery of torpedoes/missiles/razors all the while posing as a massive armored brick incapable of being severely damaged. Acting as a mobile fighter base, as carriers do, it grants the Coalition the ability to actually move out and strike targets at long ranges: Force projection, Red Navy style.
The design itself stems from a few concepts:
- The Bridge is, like it is on most ships and on the Coalition's destroyer, for example, very exposed. However, it's still almost flush with the hull, posing a difficult target from many angles, including the broadside position.
- The Hull is inspired by the CS Pukov itself; Coalition vessels in Starlancer, the biggest ones, seemed to have a tendency of sporting massive slabs of metal that shielded the rest of the ship from certain perspectives. This ship is no different, since at the broadside it'd have a massive block in front of vulnerable spots.
- The Engines are two pairs of pods slung underneath the metal skirt towards the rear of the vessel. This not only holds true to the idea of protecting them from fire, but also plays along with the Coalition's style of pod-based engines that could easily be swapped, replaced, jettisoned, what have you. It's safe and functional.
- Towards the bow you have the same sloping ridge effect that the Coalition Destroyer has at the same position. This along with the smooth bridge show the contrast between modern and Sol-era Coalition designs; things aren't 'quite' as bulky and exposed as they used to be.
- The Hangar bay is nothing but a gigantic hold stretching straight from one end of the ship to the other. While this would indeed make the ship rather vulnerable both structurally and from forward and rear aspects, bear in mind that if the hangar is this large and linear that the capacity for quickly taking on, re-arming, and catapulting fighters is greatly increased. It's simple and functional, capable of launching four fighters (an entire flight) at once, all the while having resupplied replacements moving up along an assembly line of sorts. This was the same effect in Starlancer's Nanny ships, only this time it's quadrupled in size and capable of sifting through an entire fighter wing.
- Weapons placement on the diagram is pending; I only have battleship turrets on the bow, the most vulnerable position, technically, while they could just as easily be along the broadside batteries. Of course, Freelancer doesn't model damage technicalities, so really firing straight on would present a very slender and difficult target to hit. I'll leave that one up to anybody who actually would like to take this on.
I just brainstormed this in the middle of class, since Lord knows we don't do anything else there anyway. What do you guys think?
I believe that it was agreed that the Coalition would NEVER get a battleship.
And they say resurgent, but the Coalition has NONE of the assets that it once had in Sol. They are a new thing with only the ideals and hatred carried over by their ancestors.

Welp considering the usage of this sort of ship would be small, go ahead and draft out a model. Or have someone do it. Not that I see anything beyond this being a freighter with a generous hold, and less guns.
