Er.... How are new starscapes gonna "ruin" the vanillaness of Discovery? I mean, just because something didn't come from the original doesn't mean it ruins the feel of it. And new effects, cloud nebulae, and a more 3D feeling starscape (the last link) I think would be incredibly welcome, instead of having dozens of ship-makers which do Homeworld imports.
However, that station does indeed look like a DS9 modeled by a drunk monkey and textured like someone took a crap on it. We do need more station devs as well.
In fact, I think we just need a lot less ship modders and more of everything.

"Be like Vanilla" doesn't equate to "NO ADDING OF NEW THINGS D:<"
Keeping the vanilla feel is good - look at the Lane Hacker (Gunboat excluded), Outcast, Blood Dragon, Gallic (Okay, some of these are iffy) and expanded pirate lines of ships. Are they vanilla? No. Do they fit? Absolutely yes.
So yes, custom starspheres would be a nice addition if somebody can expand on them and keep the vanilla feel at the same time. I believe these things are planned, but given that I'm not technically on the dev team I can't give a real answer here.

I am on the dev team.
' Wrote:Starspheres we really want. If you know how to make them, go make an example and put it here and/or send it to Igiss. If you don't, I recall someone else on the dev team saying they were working on a tutorial, but I can't recall who it was. Might've been Frozen or SilentAssassin.
It is great to see people interested in making starspheres, though. We'd love to have custom stuff for Gallia in particular, but any new ones would be useful.
We most certainly would like starsphere people. Also station people. Both would be excellent.
