As I understand it, the larger a ship, the buggier it is. The game engine was not meant to handle player flown huge ships :/ and this has led to quite a few issues involving the camera, docking, and navigation.
Perhaps downsizing every ship model and hitbox proportionally would be a fix?
It would help with the issues around piloting big ships, and would address my obsessive compulsive issues with how large a LF is in comparison to a planet :/
Resizing is not a simple task I'm afraid. It requires each model to be scaled down, re-exported and re-hardpointed, then most likely re-hitboxed if it was a Vanilla ship.
On top of that, all the balances of ships would need to be completely re-done, Fighters would be so rediculously small that guns would need to be buffed in projectile speed otherwise no one would ever hit anything.
Too much work for a mod already this far in-progress, resizing is something that needs to be done from the very beginning in order to reduce the work load.
Engaging buncha flies might be fun! But I understand the workload there might be and the balance issues. SO many good ideas end on that. SHips are way too big, hell how can you dock Juggy at station that is half its size.
Not only combat would be affected, all aspects of the game would be seriously messed up. Trade routes will become longer and travelling in general will become longer. Unless you want to scale the systems and objects along with the ships which defeats the purpose of rescaling ships in the first place.
