Zoners built three BS Advanced and selled them. One to the Order, one to Orbital S&C( :crazy: ) and one to a successful Freelancer. Remains of all three is unknown.
The number of Juggernaughts is unknown.
Zoners main intention is to stay neutral to all. To ensure this, they have to make money and to take benefits of the different conflicts. Would that mean to sell all of their equipment to everyone? NO. They would keep an advantage to other factions for themself. You never know what the future may bring.
Also i cannot imagine, Order is giving high tech to Zoners to sell them to Outcasts or LSF for instance. Outcasts never will give their high tech to Zoners to sell them to Corsairs and so on. They all were giving their high tech to Zoners for support to raise their survival abilities in unknown and Nomad space. Because all of them will take benefits of a safe place in remote space, which Freeports are providing.
Freeport means a safe place in and around the station to chill out, get the ship repaired, get food supply.
It means not a flea market, where you can buy all the high tech, you didn't found anywhere else.
Oh. Zoners are not neutral to all. What is making me crazy is the fact, Zoners are happy, when you kill Bounty Hunters, but sell Bounty Hunter missions on their freeports.
There are anomalies which I wouldn't mind seeing addressed.
Zoners must be darn good business men (well, we are..) to have exclusives like.. well.. The highest leve captial armor upgrade for sale on Freeport 2 in Bering, for instance. Kinda silly, really.
Same for Lanzarote in 49. No cap ships sold there.. but darn good cap armor. And, let's be real about it.. none of that sales price goes into Zoner pockets now, does it?
There are some rather odd and questionable choices of cap weps sold on Canaria. Order? Corsair? Cerberus? Boy, we must make a mint haulin' those bad boys in from the Omicrons.. sure..
Now, mini razors.. That I can see as something we'd keep in stock and sell to anyone who can dig in his account deep enough. Likewise nuke mines, Discovery scanners, and whatever other goodies 4.84 chooses to throw our way. Nomad thrusters? Not sure about that one. How'd we get em?
As I said, anomalies. That's Temporary "Autonomous" Zoners.. not "Anomalous" Zoners.
As to the new Zoner Dessie. Why just Corfu? I'd love to see it on Canaria as well.. Options. I'd love to see homeworld ships moved out of House bases and Battleships and onto Freeports or Zoner enclaves. Will it happen? Doubtful, even though it makes more sense than the current paradigm.
Bet yer Pineal that Mal will be ordering a Zoner Dessie for the TAZ Flagship. Possibly a few IMG/GMG gunboats as well, for Escort and "neighborhood watch" duties. Bombers? Haven't decided.
If Jinx can sit in here bloody Juggy and claim perfect neutrality, I guess I can have my "Flash Zoner" hunk of muscle too.
To be honest, I would have House guard bases sell level 10 shields at least, so we don't have to buy high-end military gear from Zoners for every darn VHF.
Capital Armour... now that's an odd one. For some reason I think the best would be sold in Rheinland, or on Tripoli. They're both the sorts that like thick armour. Ah well, I'm not really getting anywhere, am I?
I think Corfu would be good for the Dessie, but move the Juggernaut to Canaria, or have it be just on Livadia, and have the dessie be on both Corfu and Canaria. Because with the Juggernaut on Corfu, come on the ship is bigger than the bloody base itself.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but does it not say that the Order are the Zoner's allies? I highly, HIGHLY, doubt that the Zoners would kick the Order in the balls by taking a shipment of Novas and selling them to the LSF who were on a flight of fancy.
Sorry, Unselie... But its not just all about the money. It's all about staying safe and out of the clutches of the House governments. "Out of colonial control" so sayeth the info card. Why do you think they have an alliance with the Order? They have to survive out in the Omicrons somehow... Else the Order and their Corsair friends find a nice big station to use as target practice.
Sure they, "Use the antagonism between the Corsairs and the Outcasts to their advantage."... But where in there does it say, "We love money. We don't care about diplomatic relationships. Our Freeports are anti-matter proof. We like to sell Nova's to the LSF, Fudge you, Order."... Please enlighten me as to where.
OH! But the deep-space exploration! Money is needed there, huh? Oh yes! Buy food rations for 700 credits and we're set for six years. Oh... Whatever shall we do with that other 6.900.300 credits that nice LSF man gave us for the Nova? Oh wow! Lets put it toward our Juggernaut fund. Can never have enough battleships for a neutral faction.

Zoners + Order x Corsair friends = Omicron safety / not paying taxes.

I'm not trying to flame or anything, just trying to make the point that Zoners aren't just greedy people with a lack of care.
