As my new body lay there, dying, I knew that she had to be stopped. As everything went black, silent, I could only scream. I saw her leave the room, her white hair gleaming. I had once loved her, but now we only knew hatred for each other. I remembered the day we fell in love...
It was on Freeport 11, Janurary 811 A.S. Lilith and I were in my room, doing the usual. Playing video games, watching random crap on the Neural Net. We'd been best friends since day 1, but recently we'd been talking about being more than just that. You know what I mean. I had won another out of about fifty thousand rounds of Edgeworld Elites 2: Frontline Eta and I was going to get the rulebooks out for Frontier: Space Elves when I tripped. She caught me, grabbing my waist and pulling me up.
"Thanks," I said.
"Of course. I'd do anything for you," she began. "Annette, I've been wanting to say this for too long now..."
"What is it, Lilly?" She turned away and fell silent.
"Annette, I... I love you," Those words meant so much back then...
Not long ago, after I officially joined the TAZ, we met up in the bar on Freeport 11 for another one of our romantic evenings...
I came into the bar in my best dress. I spotted her in a table by the window. By the looks of things, she'd already ordered drinks. I came over to her.
"Thanks for ordering the drinks," I said.
"I'm good to you, aren't I?"
"You certainly are, babe," We drank for a while, talked about stuff that was happening in our lives, and headed up to her room, for a change. Fooling around, doing what we do, but that night was when our relationship went to Hell. Literally.
So, after our evening, we took a spin in my new Roc. We flew around Delta, occasionally blowing up a Nomad or two. Eventually, we found an unkown jummphole. We talked for a bit, wondering whether we should go through or not.
We did.
The jumphole lead to the Omicron Iota system, rumored to be the Nomad capitol system. The scanners found a huge energy reading nearby. We followed it to a huge station of some sort. And then it happened.
A whole fleet of nomads appeared. We ran for it, hoping to make a jumphole. They opened fire and we took heavy damage. We went through the jumphole, but the ship self-destructed at the other end. We only just escaped...
An Order patrol found us. While we were onboard, Lilith blamed me for this...
"Why did you follow the signal? It had to be a trap!"
"Look Lilly," I said, trying to stay calm, "How could we have known?"
"We could have not gone there in the first place!"
"That was your idea!"
It was just a few days since I came round. I was in the Omicron Delta system when we met each other again.
"You..." I said, recognizing her instantly.
"How did you..." she said, with an obvious disbelief.
"I had... help," was all I could give... to her.
"That Godess of yours?" she replied. Her derisive turn felt like yet another knife in the back. "She couldn't..." I closed the channel and opened fire. Tore through her shields and had her running in seconds. "Bitch!"
