@ gekerd: You missed my point. I was referring to a rule that "requires" you to pay 50% of the demand. So if you fled, you'd be sanctioned for not paying 50% of the demand. Now I'm sure you would agree with me that this type of "rule" playing would be ridiculous.
@ Angel of Mercy: My question is, did the police NPCs attack this pirate? If they did, then the pirate is within RP. Just because they don't do any damage doesn't mean he's OORP. I seriously doubt my Rogue NPCs flying around Alcatraz, Montezuma and other bases will be able to do any damage to anybody flying anything larger than a fighter. But there are many times I've come across a Liberty navy, police or Bounty Hunter camping near Alcatraz. There's no rule that says a pirate cannot hide behind a lawful base (whether being attacked by NPCs or not). I can hide on the back side of Los Angeles without worry of attack (even when red with NPCs). I can hide at Riverside by getting close to the structure to protect myself from the flying projectiles and bullets (ie: still getting shot at). What I cannot do is start shooting while someone is undocking from Riverside. I gotta wait till he starts maneuvering ... and then I have to scan him and make a demand for money before I can destroy his ship. We don't need some new rule here.
@ Kress: Camping is what happened to me yesterday when I was jumped by 4 SENSORED characters. I'm in queue with everyone else in New York to jump to California. As I emerge form the jumpgate in California I'm greeted by SENSORED character name who begins shooting at me. If this is ok for RP, what's the issue here? How about SA and LSF camping above Houston and demanding Smugglers to drop their cargo? How about lawfuls camping near jumpholes between systems? You cannot apply this standard to one group and let others go freely about their business. Its gotta be applied across the board.
@ Archelon: 1. Me never said he was oorp and yes the lawfuls were fighting him. All this is no problem and you ar right, if the pirate is using a blind spot of a civilian station to take cover and hide. BUT THIS WAS A POLICE STATION. I beg you. Have you ever tried a robbery in sight of police officers?
For myself i have to check my RP. It happen to often, that i kill criminal NPC's, because they cannot hurt me with their weakness. So me also have to think about, shall i do something, because i can or rather not.
Next version of Disco, all base guns can get an upgrade. Enough so enemy fighters make sure they just cant camp at the base.
No one is flying the same ole vanilla ships and new ships are stornger and more powerful, so why not up the guns at the docking rings and stations, atleast at the bigger bases. A quicker way would be just to change the damage values of the guns already being used at bases.
