Ship Assignment: Whale Freighter
Title: Pirates!

So it's been a few weeks since I posted on here. We've been so busy recently trying to reorganize EVERYTHING because of the "command restructure". I told you about the [GCorp] leadership already and you know how my posts can get kind of whiny.

I'll say one thing. Since the whole GCorp thing, piracy has gotten worse. Sigma 13... our Sigma 13... is infested. Leadership is long on excuses and short on solutions. Today I had to choose between my life and my cargo. I've dealt with pirates before but this is very different. They are fierce and efficient, and the problem won't go away on its own.

I don't know what's going to happen to the GMG under this so called "leadership" by GCorp and their ridiculous Tsar. But the future looks bleak.

Title: Ridiculous

I haven't used an escape pod since I was a first time pilot, learning how to wind through nebulae and skirting gas clouds with the Guild Trainer. His lesson must have worked, because I'm alive. No thanks to GCorp though.

I was hauling a load of Diamonds through Honshu... the same Honshu that is supposedly controlled by the Kusari Navy. I was stopped by a pirate for the third time today. He demanded 2 million credits... normally I just pay and go on my way. I radioed into GMG Command and they said, yet again, that there were no reserve units available and that I would have to pay the pirate.

I was sick of it. GCorp is destroying our way of life with the complete lack of ships or support they provide for their traders. What were they spending all of the money that I made? ...and the countless GMG traders like me?

I radioed back to command - "Negative."

I buckled my shoulder harness and firewalled the engines. The cruise engine spooled up...

Then I felt a rumble and the sickening lurch of a Cruise Disruptor. I could hear my engines misfiring, spewing H-Fuel into the darkness. Next would be the inevitable sound of Tachyon Weaponry tearing through my hull...

I know I should have ejected sooner but I was so close to the tradelane. The pirate almost forgot to disable it too. I felt the seat slide sideways and I knew that the back half of my ship must have sheared off. I closed my eyes and pulled the handle...

At least I was carrying diamonds. They are worth far more than a GMG Pilot. The pirate took all of them he could fit in his cargo hold. It was an eerie, amazing scene... floating in space so familiar... surrounded by the shiniest, most beautiful debris you'll ever see. Aside from the hum of life support, it was the quietest I'd ever heard in space.

At least a 60 million credit freighter gets a lot of attention when it gets annihilated. I was picked up by a Kusari Police flight and taken to Gas Miner Naha.

I'm going to storm into the Tsar's office myself if I have to. Pirates can smell blood in the vacuum. The attacks will only get worse.

Title: Visitor...

As far as the repercussions from the incident go, I'm doing okay. I was actually surprised by the Tsar himself as I laid in the medical center of Naha while they checked me out.

"They say you're going to be fine," he said without introducing himself. "I'm glad to hear that. We need all the pilots we can get."

"The way you protect the GMG tradelanes I am surprised any of us are left."

He turned away, surprised. Regrouping, he faced me.

"At the moment we are indeed lacking on patrols. But just today we have launched our first experimental fighter."

"One... one fighter? But how is that-"

"Silence!" he yelled. "You will learn not to question. For now we will reequip you and you will be back on the job."

"...reequip? You're just going to give me a new ship?" The GMG would need severe finances to accomplish that feat so quickly.

"I said not to question. Loyalty is a good trait. Trust is better."

I could think of nothing further to say. This man was insane.

...but deep down I felt something else. I felt I should trust him...
