Creating a RM Character,

Okay, I've been thinking of trying out a Rheinland military character with a fighter and was looking for advice both from practical and RP standpoints.

I've used VHFs like the Talon and Virage and been pretty much ineffectual in them. I've been a lot more capable in ships like the Moldy Crow and Templar. I enjoyed the Tiger Shark for a while too, but never really fought with it too much.

Of course, Rheinland doesn't have an elite HF. So that leaves, Phantom, Wraith and Mjolnir. After some searching, I noticed a number of threads indicating that these ships are being RPed exclusive to either RFP or RM. I know what the tech chart says (and both military and police should have specialists/differently equipped divisions I would think), but I'd rather not fly a ship if official faction members are going to not take it well or limit interaction. I play independent because I really don't have the time to contribute to a faction, not to break RP.

So, from a flying standpoint, which ship will I likely enjoy?

And from an RP standpoint, what is acceptable to use?

The Wraith is a very fast and light Very Heavy Fighter.

You should probably try that first.

Yep, as Akura said, the Wraith is one of the best VHF out there, and, from a both IRP and OORP point of view, the primary ship for the Military.

I'm glad to see you've done your research. As former head of the RFP player faction I saw some RM indies just purchasing the Mjolnir without prior permission from us. And I hope it makes me qualified to help you here.

I loved the Mjolnir. Was a great ship to use. Two hundred and fifty bots and bats. Can mount a cruise disruptor and a Snack or Mini Razor. It has less agility, but I'd say that it's better than the Wraith. And you can get one with perfectly acceptable role-play by just requesting the use of one from the RFP (currently run by sadtranslation as Elven left on a long break a few days ago) with a comm channel message.

The Phantom sucks. I hated it, but you could again request to use one from the RFP. The only thing that kept me even in the RFP for so long was the Mjolnir. And the Wraith is a pretty good ship, but I'd rather have a Mjolnir any day.

Test each ship on Discovery of Discovery first. Get a feel for them. It's completely your decision, just know that it's acceptable for you to have any of them. So long as you get the permission.

Thanks all. I'll give the Wraith a go and start from there. And after some figuring on D of D, I agree on the phantom. Would rather fly a banshee.:lol:
