So, I am pretty close to having a set-up Bretonnia privateer. I had a couple of questions just to see how people tend to regard the ID and one rules question.
First the rule: ID allows no access whatsoever to the Sigma system. BAF wiki lists Sigma-13 as a privateer staging ground. The ID rule takes precedence I would think. Please let me know if I'm wrong.
As for how the ID is regarded, to most people see the privateers as a secretive raiding group for disrupting trade or a more blunt military formation to strike behind the front lines?
When i first conceptualized the character I assumed I could sort of "disappear" into Kusari, staging from GC bases and even using a ship that would not immediately scream BAF (was actually going to see about requesting GC VHF before I checked and saw the red box, as kind of a blending in with local resistance RP).
My last question then is any suggestions for a ship that might work well with this "blending-in" approach in mind? I tend to prefer heavy fighters or light VHFs.
In the end, I'm guessing there's multiple ways to play the privateer. Just though I'd get the community's 2 cents.
It would be best to request permission from the GC factions before docking their bases. The current deal is that [GC] handles Ainu Depot and the bases of Tau-65, Kiretsu handles Battleship Matsuda. Contact the appropriate one depending where you wanted to base.
Privateers generally use civilian ships, rarely Bretonian ones. If you want a VHF, I'd recommend the Eagle.
Also, Privateer's aren't secret, they're just a raiding group. Look at colonial-era privateers. State-sponsered pirates. That's generally how you should act in your actions. Character personality can be anything from greedy pirate to military-disciplined man (many of the QCP characters were/are ex-military).

It was a destroyer if I recall correctly.
As for stationing, what's so wrong with simply basing off the BMM station in Tau-23? Most QCP I've encountered were F1'd next to a lane anyways.
