I think there should be Marines or in general Infantry Soldiers as a "commodity" in the game.

Why?

In conflict roleplay you might want to reinforce a base that might be attacked. So you pick up soldiers and take them there, while your enemy can try to shoot the troop transports down, etc. Having lots of soldiers at a base will make it harder for the enemy to stage a boarding operation, etc. We tried it in Omega 7 and it was good roleplay and interesting action because you really have to protect these transports with their human cargo.

We had to use "Spaceship crew" as infantry units, which sucked kind of.

Why? Because you can buy them in many places. And this is what happened. People shuttled Spaceship Crews from Shetland to Omega 7 because we needed the commodity for roleplay, which is completely oorp.

Colonial Marines (in our case), or marines in general should be only available in the respective Guard system. So if you want to reinforce a base in Omega 7 as CR, you need to shuttle them all the way from Tau 44. And not buy them somewhere else, close to the conflict. =)

> The price for these Marines should be rather low, since they are not for trade but pure roleplay items.
> They should only be available in Guard Systems of the respective faction.

I think this would give faction-conflict roleplay some more depth.

It'd sure give that Liberty Battletransport in 4.86 some purpose. Troop transport and whatnot.

Not to mention boarding actions. Would make some good roleplay.

On a different note, that is brilliant. Also, yes. Finally a commodity to trade to battleships (could be a profitable commodity, why not?)

Yes I know there's already MOX and nukes.

Sucks to be a weight on the wrong side of the brilliance-insanity scale.

Sounds good, bear in mind though that the example you used -omega 7 conflict- was a player decision, and not coded for by the devs, so in other instances of this kind, prices may not be appropriate.

Already present in 4.86. Cannot be done without a mod update however since it's adding a commodity. So, wait until 4.86;)
