Problem with Ms3d exporter plugin

I don't know whether this is in the right place or not.. But here I go.

I've tried to get into modelling FL ships, I'm pretty "newb" at it. I looked at the "First Aid" topic and downloaded one of the starter packs. I learned that I needed to download a ms3d exporter plugin for Gmax. I downloaded one from a link on that topic and I have extracted it.
Tragedy! When I load Gmax, it says the plugin cannot initialise.
Error message : "DLL <C:\Program Files\Gmax\Plugins\ExportMD3.dle> failed to initialize."

Tell me where I have gone wrong.
