My sons turned me to Freelancer a few months ago, and I've been playing a lot, and enjoying it.
I've set up a Freelancer server, and we've been playing in multiplayer mode, and having a ball. With seven of us, it's a piranha feeding frenzy whenever the "bad guys" attack. We even took out a gunboat the other night! That was amazing! :yahoo:
Unfortunately, before I could backup my account information on my PC, it crashed. The drive was fried. Inaccessible. :(Almost 100 million credits - gone!
The server is still up and running, and I can see my account on the server, and I can see the "number" associated with my account on the server (whatever that number is called).
I've reinstalled the OS, Freelancer, the Mod Manager, Discovery 4.85, etc., but I don't want to lose the character I've built.
When I start in the multiplayer mode, it supplies an account number. I've erased that, and entered that "number" from off the server, but it is rejected with the error message, "The number you have entered is not a valid account id."
Do I have to start from scratch, or is there some way I can reconnect to that "orphaned" account?
I had the same problem, tried everything, posted for help and i found this particular account in my discovery launchpad under different numbers..i guess it was a backup copy or something...
