Well, in fact, it's an option already - it's possible to define a key binding to disable hud.
Some other things I managed to learn:
- the only program I found that allows capturing video is fraps. All other video capturing programs i found just sucks.
- good place to get sounds from is freesound.org
- good place to get music from is jamendo.com
- the most tricky thing when recording is to keep the camera moving smoothly. I usually use EK flybys but it really requires smooth mouse moves.
- always record shots longer than you want. You will need about 1-2 seconds on each end of a scene for transitions.
- take as much shots as possible - you will have something to choose from.
- making a 5 minute video with sound, some simple added special effects, music and recorded voices, took me about 30 hours.
- making such videos is much fun and is addicting;)
The new (and slightly buggy) DSAce.dll (vers. 11) enables you to set a hotkey to turn off the complete HUD ingame without having to restart Freelancer.
Thanks about the hint about Disco Launchpad. Never thought of that. I do have some links made to set those things but the launchpad might be the easier way of setting it up.
Fraps... well, I guess it's the best you can find but it's far from being good. But... *shrugs*... it works...
the new DSAce works well. I use it since it's been released for testing and have no probloems with it.
