Breif History:
Richard was born on Leeds to rich father and a loving mother. He received a good education up to about age 15, growing up in relative saftey in the pre-war era. However, one night cast his entire life into dissarray, when his mother died of a heart attack on the same night that one of his father's warehouses burned down, irreverisibly scarring his father's buisness reputation and effectivly bankrupting the family. With nothing left on Leeds, Richard's father made the decision to sell whatever assets he had left and buy two tickets to Cambridge. There, Richard and his father started a new life, leaving behind everything they had known. Richard turned the small plot of land they owned into a farm, and spent the majority of his time tending his crops. Soon, his father remarried a woman named Eva, who had a son of her own, Alex. Richard accepted Alex as his brother, and the two became great friends. Alex displayed a great talent for scientific research, so Richard began to work to save money to help send Alex to university. He eventually got employed by a Bretonian freelancer, and spent the next four years of his life helping to haul freight around Sirius. Eventually, he earned enough money to pay off the loans for Alex's tuition, and began to settle down on the farm again, which by this time had grown in size considerably. However, his father soon fell ill and died, and his wife, Eva, followed him soon after. Richard and Alex now had to make their own way in life. After a short while, Richard got a call from the old freelancer that had employed him before; the man was retiring, and gave Richard his very own spacecraft as a gift. He was now free to start his carrier in space.
After a breif period of freelance trading, and after winning a particularly interesting Orbital Spa and Cruise competition (the proceeds of which ensured the family farm would remain in good repair for several decades,) Richard decided to enlist in Queen Carina's Academy, with asperations of possibly working for the Bretonian Police Authority. However, right as his training was nearing an end, the Omega-3 crisis broke out, causing all new graduates of the academy to be shifted into active military service. Richard took to his new role as a soldier well, becoming good friends with many of his wingmen, and eventually qualifying for several promotions in rank, all of which he turned down. He ended up taking a few weeks leave to go back and visit Cambridge, where he saw his brother for the first time in a while. His brother had been recovering from a devistating ship crash, the cause of which was unknown. Following the incident, Alex had been put on medication which Richard learned had driven him more or less insane. Alex had eventually recovered from the insanity brought on by the medication, but was still left with residual medical problems that caused him to slip into a breif coma suddenly at random times, supposedly from the crash. What's more, Richard learned that while he was away, several Libertonian buisnessmen had come to the family farm, offering to sell a 'cure' for Alex's 'illness' in exchange for ownership of the farm. This enraged Richard, who eventually began to beleive that the people attempting to buy the farm had actually given Alex this 'illness' and were now attempting to use his brother's life as leverage in a buisness deal. After a lot of digging, Richard learned that the buisnessmen had a tenuous link to the Synth Foods corporation. Knowing that Synth Foods had been trying to get a foodhold on Cambridge for some time, Richard assumed that it was the corporation's agents who had poisoned his brother. As such, he set off to try and take revenge upon the corporation the only way he knew how; by seeking out and joining the Landwirtrechtbewegung, a group of fighters whom had been rumored to be engaged in strikes against the Libertonian food company. After earning their trust and getting accepted into their ranks, Richard set out to prove himself to the revolutionaries of Rhienland. Although Richard initially joined the organization out of simple hatred for Synth Foods, he developed a bond between these land workers, whom he had shared a profession with once. He grew to like many of his wingmen, and developed personal relationships not only with pilots of the LWB, but various Unioners, and other Rhienlandic revolutionaries as well. Over time, Richard has become a staunch beleiver in the ideals of the "overarching revolution," which he beleives will one day rise up and claim sovreignty over the whole of Rheinland and the Omegas. As it stands today, Richard is working frantically to earn the trust of the Arbeitergewerkschaft, hoping to one way rise enough within the organization to be given the oppertunity to launch an operation of his own devising, aimed at extracting the 'cure' for Alex's illness that the buisnessmen had been said to possess.
Little does he know, however, that the people who he perceives as enemies are not the ones responsible for his Brother's illness. They are part of a web of shocking lies and hidden history that streches the entirty of Sirius; a web in which Richard and his brother are irreversibly tangled.
There is much more to come in the life of Richard Hastings; That is, if he isn't blown up by the Rheinwehr first.
About the Picture: That is a rough sketch of Richard Hastings. I hope to do a better one in some time. In this picture, he has a scar above his right eye; injuries like that can be easily fixed, but Richard has been far to busy to bother with things like that. Basically, this is what he would look like after spending about a week in the bowels of Darmstadt, patching holes in the hull and doing other odd jobs that the more experienced LWB pilots don't want to do. If he looks unhappy, it's because he is; you would be too, if you'd just spent the last several days down some ventalation shaft covered in second-hand Hessian engine grease. Normally, Richard can bee seen sporting some sort of facial hair, often a mustache or some sort of stubble from when he has forgotten to shave. However, he is clean shaven in this picture, although his hair is much longer than how he normally wears it. Whats more, Richard often wears a hat that he got back on Freeport 6, but he isn't wearing it in this picture. Nowadays, Richard has the tattoo of the Kriegerwochenmarkt Sichel on his neck, but because I am crappy at sketching tattoos off center, I left that part out of the drawing. Please forgive the image quality, as I am still learning to use my scanner.
On another note: Why not move this to RP General discussion? I think that would be a more fitting place for this thread.
Short description:
He's a mix between a business man and a merc with his own morale. Always up for a drink, and nicer to women.
He accepts any job, except those which demand to blow up transports with human cargo. Sometimes he acts like a cynical philosophist
and he's paranoid regarding the protection of his personal data, cuz of his complicated reputation. His only business partner is a female
barkeeper at Barrier Gate, Naomi Armitage who's keeping an eye on Hangman's "office". She's the ex-girlfriend of Hangman's brother Flynn,
who got killed by a Phantom.
Note: The above story with the Phantom, is meant as a bridge between 4.85 and 4.86 and takes effect, when 4.86 is out.
Ship:
Most of his time he spends on his ship staring at a bottle of wine. He will open it at the day, when he squared the accounts
with that very one phantom. Hangman restored his brother's Spatial, and outfitted it for all combat-purposes and patchworked it with
various equipment, either gathered from his target's remains, or as bribe/reward from his "customers".
Since the rules deny different weapons and to show that patchwork inRP, I use codes. He docked at almost every station,
cuz he worked for everyone (phantoms, nomads, wilds and Scra not included).
Today:
With no affiliation, no owes to anyone and too much money on his bank accounts, he thinks about changing proffesion.
Currently he is hired by the FP1-Defence force as long as it fits to Hangman's business plans.
Future plans for this char:
Dunno. Maybe mapping whole 4.86 and then join a official faction?
