*Curious* I'm not sure. Are you trying to transfer items between your characters? Myself, I never had more than one account, back when I sued to to play. Have only one now. But, I used to have another account with a "mule" character, which I used to transfer items like credit cards, codes and AUs.

Yes. Even an F1-ed one counts as that, so miners can change ships that are on different accounts while transferring ore alone.
' Wrote:If so, without a nearby player, how long will it last before disappearing?
I'm quite sure it wont last longer than 1-2 minutes after all player went farther than a bit more than scanner range. When a pirate waits at a transport's remains for a hauler, he has to watch for not getting out of the range of the loot. If a player is nearby, the floating cargo wont disappear. Confirmed for at least two hours.
Free loot should remain for a couple of minutes with no one around, before it disappears forever.
So-called "drop trading" always gives me a heart attack, for the reason Michael just described... just remember, when you jettison cargo it takes a couple of seconds before it appears in space (depending on lag etc). Best have your scanner set to "loot" and verify your stuff is indeed floating in space before F1'ing. (And make sure no one is around;)
Alternatively, if you ask someone nicely they'll probably oblige, much less risky that way. (Mostly...)
' Wrote:Thanks needed the info. I want to transfer a code from one character to another.
I do that quite often. And it always worked.
But:
- You should pick a lonely base for such transfers
- Check if you're having a good (wlan) connection
- You can switch accounts, but do it fast
- The code will disappear/get destroyed after ~1-2 minutes
- Watch mines (they destroy them)
- Check if you're alone in that system (to avoid thiefs)
- F1'ing and reloging with the same account will take too long
- It's always risky, I suggest to only do it, when there's no other way
Afaik the best method would be to use Narcotic's way with a minor change. Make sure (if the characters are on different accounts) that you select the account of the wanted character BEFORE you log out. Otherwise switching the account will take a lot of the precious time.
