*sniff* i miss my Shire with 4 debs and 8 splitters on her:(
Man, the look on some pirates faces when faced with that loadout was awsome, especiallly when your sawing them in half and they are saying " WTF!!! "
It even gave gunboats second thoughts about trying it on:)
Diversity in Transport guns ?? bring back fighter turrets !!:)

im not familer with the akegatas, but then again im not very familier with kusari tech in the 1st place. is it new, cus the wiki isa bit sketchy on the new stuff.
' Wrote:i think instead of adding guns , making the guns more lethal but only on very short range (turning transports into a weapon , but purely defensive) could be an option?
Are you fighting with fighters or bombers? Most of the pirates use bombers and gbs.
And for short range how much are you asking my friend? I belive type 4 is already in service for what are you asking.
I think threansport type 3 are better and if it has range like 1200 then it will be best fitted. And we definitely need additional hard points at least +2 for every transport except those who already have more than 7.
While being pirated if the transports choose fight insted of dieing i think it would be better. Firing behind while running is good idea. I have managed to flee a gain gb that way in dublin and a roc bomber in leeds, also killed fighters in omegas. SNACs are not accurate at long distance. So while you are hammering those pirates with your "Iron Hammer" i.e. Type 3 it is obvious the bombers will try to get out of your range while from 1k its not easy to shoot snac a moving transport. Also avoid gliding. Use afterbuner. If i can outrun a bomber with a kusari train then with 2 more turrets i can kill it. Though i didnt tested any battletransports but i belive with proper loadout they may kill a gb.

Type-4 turret "works" until you try to use it in combat. Type-4 is 1515 hull per second @ 2121 energy @ 795 range @ 3.03 refire. By comparison, Purple Goddess (.86) is 2013 hull per second @ 500 energy @ 840 range @ 6.67 refire. PG does more damage, for 1/4 the energy, fires further and fires 2x as many rounds so feedback is much better. The worst of it is the energy drain--when you start taking damage the shield generator sucks up the power, and the Type-4 turrets just stop firing, whereas PG you could keep shooting all the way to death. Type is an option but its not suitable as a substitute for fighter turrets.

Type-3 is the least worst but it is very hard to aim 2.0 refire @ 800 m/s munition speed while you are trying to steer a slow-turning cargo ship to safety, its just extremely hard to use unless you and target are having a duel to the death.

Yes I keep a couple of the Type-2 turrets on the rear just for that. Hold your fire they will get cocky and line up, then blam blam. Only problem is they won't make that same mistake twice. Slow thrusting speed means they can accelerate and engine kill, then snac from above just as easily, even gunboats thrust faster than transports. Type-4 work better for dealing with them then, but the energy drain makes it very hard, especially if they start knocking you with EMP guns.
Honestly all the weapons are just terrible unless you have the energy to fire eight or more simultaneously. PG was the best for everybody else, and it was pretty lame. I really wanted to try some other fighter turrets, but between the tech-nerf and the lack of support for fighter turrets on transports, its all moot now.
They should rebalance the transport guns. Give us something
I got pirated in my Bison by a ptrans' and lots of bombers, gunboats. Now I got a couple of type 1s and a bunch of type 2s, a decent CAU and i can't find any pirates to test my stuff out on :/
I think that the traders who are sad are either weak-minded, or got robbed a few minutes ago.
To Reptile I suggest doing the Yoda dance (trading in a battleship).
The large transports are heavily armored, if you do not believe so, I suggest trying to blow one up now, then compare with 4.84 ...
' Wrote:Mhm, well, mention that next time, 1,760,000 armour sounded ludicrous.
Also, why don't you count shield batts, shield and shield recharge while you're at it?
But okay, fair enough. Although it makes the Bison and other transports sound way stronger than they actually are, like Unselie says, money is still on the gunboat/bomber.
This is what I've put into the 'A Pyramid Inverted' thread (April 2010) - might still be handy Trader running distance calc
