Currently, you need a Guard rep to purchase weapons, regardless of the fact that Guard IDs have been nixed. Is this intentional and if so, what is its purpose? IMO it doesn't make any sense.
I remember reading in the forums, perhaps during the autumn of 2011, that gunboats would no longer be able to use cap 8 armor in 4.86. Is this still going to be implemented at some future date? What's the upper cap armor limit going to be?
If the guns are sold on guard bases then you need good guard reputation for them yes and?

Never heard of that
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.

It's pretty illogical. You can buy a vessel, cms, thrusters, etc. on a Guard base with a green faction rep, but no weapons.
In RP it feels odd that I have to bring my Hessian gunboat to a Zoner Freeport (neutral to the Zoners btw) in order to buy some basic turrets. The quartermaster at Wolfburg trusts my character enough to sell him a gunboat but then he has to turn to a neutral party to get the ship some armament. Quite a leap in logic.
It would appear that the removal of Guard IDs was mostly a cosmetic change in this regard.
But hey, this is Disco and the Grind is king here. Derpity, derp, derp.

The cap armor limit idea was in some gunboat thread. Don't have much inclination to search for it since apparently it's not an issue.
