Greetings,

On a battle in the dublin system a idea shoots in my mind that might be intresting after seen ppl shoot to pices from battleship essex.

i had long time ago a mod on my lan server that allowed players to destroy bases. (ships/stations even planets with the right script. sadly i dont find it anymore :( )

After a (scriptet) period of time it would respawn.


my point is that such a feature would bring much live to the server,
(only capital ships should have such power an it should at least take 2 for a big station to kill it in reasonable time)
after all i read there will might be buildable stuctures so this would tie in perfectly.

The ability to destroy static bases has been discussed before and it will not happen unless the Devs okay it lore wise and include it in a major update... and still it is very rare, more likely a base would be taken over.

However the ability for players to build bases is in the works, and I believe those can be destroyed.

oh ok i was not aware of that , i was only a bit bitter to see how the "enemy" was hiding in the firerange of the base. :angry:

For a base to be destroyed here you'd have to set up a custom event and get the devs to agree on it. As is the case with the planet Toledo for example. However it is promised that there will be player built bases and you can hopefully blast those.

By the way your signature seems too big, the max size is 700x250 - 1mb. Just saying before a moderator notices is and takes it down

He meant bases being destroyed and "respawning" in "real-time", in-game.
Can be actually RPed as "heavily damaged"

88Flak has base destruction, the base just explodes but it's still there.

It would work like that, if base gets destroyed, it causes an explosion and you can't dock and it doesn't shot until it regens, then it wouldn't need server restart or stuff like that.

Good Idea ,every faction try to destroy (and get loots) or capture the Base or planet , 20 mins time to capture , and just some border systems ,not core systems to capture how ever the core systems bases can be destroy. 24/7 Battles for destory and capture:D

But RP !

I like the idea, not only would it evade a mess in the core systems but would get the pvp lobing dudes busy with faction warfare:D, it would've in some system like hudson and the independent worlds.

Our members vehemently defend the idea that bases are bastions of godlike immortality behind their shields. Any threat to that is rapidly rejected.

I suggested this idea before. I think not destroying the base (as people are worried about timezones causing imbalance) but instead damaging it. For instance:

Every base has huge shields, ranging from a BS shield for the smallest depot, and a shield with 10X the capacity and regen, for the most important bases/stationary BS's. Along with buffed weapons.

When you take down the shield and half take down base health, the base closes its docks, as its too damaged. When you take down 3/4 of its health, the base "activates its cloaking device" for repairs. And comes back full strength "uncloaked" on next server reset, or whatever admins/devs decide is a balanced time.

This would make bases hard to kill, give thier defenders time to scramble, and give a purpose to raids.
