Incoming Colonial Republic Transmission:
Victor Ricardo
Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs
Greetings, representative of the Republic of Liberty. My name is Victor Ricardo, and I come to you on behalf of the Colonial Republic. If you are unaware of our position, after our exodus from the Taus we took up homes in the Coronado sector. We have been responsible for recent policing efforts there and in the neighboring Cortez system, wherein we work against the Slave and Cardamine trades. Like Bretonia, we are currently in a state of heightened hostilities with Gallia, a nation I'm sure you know a lot about. As it stands, we're still rebuilding our economy, which was largely shattered during the exodus, and the first part of rebuilding that economy is establishing mutually beneficial trade links with the surrounding powers, including your venerable Republic. What could a recovering nation such as the one I represent offer? Well it's simple. Colonial Republic holdings are currently divided between a budding colonial effort on Yuma and a few limited colonies on Pecos, the latter of which are sitting on vast and largely untapped deposits of Deuterium. As we understand it, the Republic of Liberty's only source of Deuterium is a long ways away in Kusari, and -to use a Mercantile expression- the balance of trade in that regard is unfavorable to your Republic.
I would like to propose a better source. Colonial colonies on Pecos, a system away from the main trade artery between Liberty and Bretonia, can start shipping -with the help of whatever transports you send- Deuterium ASAP, at a rate better than you're currently getting, cheaply and quickly. Fuel your fleets and stations easily with good Deuterium without fear of the supply getting cut off by a capricious regime. What we, here, want, is to see a mutually beneficial trade relationship begin between our two nations, which already share Republican ideals of liberty and freedom, such that both nations prosper from the exchange.
Thank you for your time,
Victor Ricardo
