Look at the Hegemon stats. Then look at the Kamome. Now look back at the Hegemon and weep. Cargo space isnt the issue, the ship should not even be mobile, that is the issue. Come up with a counterpart to the Kamome instead.
Honestly the GAT is pretty much the perfect mining ship. Lots of forward turrets, small enough to get get through mining fields, 3k cargo... its the Kamome with 2 extra turrets. Something like that is what's needed, not a mobile base.

I don't get why Gas & Scrap mining can be done solo, while rock mining was nerfed into oblivion. See also the F1 thread.
What's so wrong with mining in a fighter? In my opinion, solo mining should become impossible. That way, we'll also see a ton less lolwut battleships. This because lolwuts don't have friends to mine with. They mine alone. This once again connects lolwuts to hegemons. Interesting:P
Also, the hegemon would be fine with just two mining class turrets. I still facepalm every time i see a Hegemon with full mining turret loadouts, even though the rest of the turrets can be used to defend against pirates.

But you can solo trade no problem, why should mining be overtly different?

The hegemon is as big as the small battleships (seriously undock one from the Hood in Dublin), flies really awkward with the understeer, tiny cargo for its size, and cant navigate asteroid fields worth a damn.
So you're saying you want an overpowered ship that lets you make tons of money without relying on anybody or having to exert effort to defend yourself?
A way a lone a last a loved a long the riverrun, past Eve and Adam's, from swerve of shore to bend of bay,
brings us by a commodius vicus of recirculation back to Howth Castle and Environs.
