So, since one of my best times in Disco were in the NLH long long time ago, I'm a little bit curious about their current situation. As I see, there are no gaian players and the Underloch went unofficial/inactive. After some tour on the wiki, I gained the following:
[-]
- There is no pew, since the NAP with the frogs and since Edinburg, Lewis occupied by the same animals. Their other bases are a "little bit" useless to raid or establish connections between them.
- There are no real smuggle routes, since Faroe is a crap to trade with, so that could be a dead place somewhere...nowhere.
- Gaians restricted into Faroe, and became compromised animals, like their well beloved gaian lifeforms on Gaia.
- Since the BAF have to defend themselves by the frogs, and Gaians have that NAP, they cant interfere.
- The Raba is red cell for them.

- They got new toys what fits well to the faction.
- The NLH had great members to rp with, maybe they are still active.
So, these are my fast opinions pro and contra, but I have to say, there is not much space to play as a gaian, except Marburgs fine idea about his Death Cult. Unfortunately as I saw, that wasnt enough to keep the faction alive.
Somebody must know more than me about them, so please do me a favor and share it with us.
peace kills opportunity and activity. - so what some factions complain about - being attacked and being able to attack ( along with all the bad things that come with it ) - directly relates to the playability of a faction.
what gaians need is an active enemy they can nearly kill/attack on sight.
in terms of lore however - the faction is a bit "forced" to still exist.... if things were logical - the gaians would have dissolved as a faction due to gallia. - also - bretonia is not interested in exploiting gaia anymore, cause they are more interested in survival. - so in a way - the gaians should not exist anymore at all....
they would have become bretonian citizens most probably.
but since they are vanilla - and vanishing them might not be the nicest thing to do - they need someone to shoot at ... might be up to the faction or un-official gaian players to modify the diplomacy so they get a REAL enemy again - like mollys, who kind of suffer from the same problem... .
edit:
there are some opportunities that might work for gaians
- taking sides in the kusari civil unrest
- taking sides against gallia
- deciding to become really an enemy to bretonia by truely siding with gallia and attacking bretonian forces and civilians
- resettling to a new place, cause theirs is in a slightly unstable location
but many of those options mean that they abandon their original cause - and leave gaia more or less, the vanilla rumor suggests that the original cuase had run out anyway - at least up to a point... and that many gaians were "just normal space pirates"
I believe they are headed south to interact with the LWB (stimulating both factions' activity), but something war-oriented to do in the north would be great in addition. All of Jinx's ideas seem reasonable, although I am not up-to-date on their Kusari diplomacy (some rumours/interactions are hanging around though).
Jix painted what I've feared from. As I remember, that small group had great potential in it before the new mod arrived. Unfortunately I cant deny your opinions, since there is no space for the treehuggers novadays. Unofficial groups could be a solution however they wont be created about the same problems.
Is there any way to expand gaian ZOI and/or relations by building POB somewhere maybe?
