Re: Timely Assistance by Officer J.D. Masket
Dear sir or madam,
I am briefly writing at this time to both thank again the subject officer, J.D. Masket, and to ensure the officer's superiors are made aware of his timely assistance in the disposal of dangerous goods brought accidentally into the Colorado system.
My crew and I were bringing what to my knowledge was a cargo of rare holosculptures to market via the Ontario -> Colorado jump hole due my crew's current inexperience navigating the trade lanes in our new vessel (time lost moving across space is at this time worth time saved from failing to properly interface with the lane) when we were stopped by Officer Masket. He informed me in a polite and professional manner that my cargo actually matched Corsair Artifact data-profiles. You can imagine my surprise and anger that I had been deceived into taking illegal and highly dangerous items aboard my ship!
In my state of shock I was lucky to have Officer Masket on the scene. He immediately took control of the situation and provided calm guidance. My crew carefully ejected the cargo into space and I had my helmsman move us away. Once clear, Officer Masket informed the area to prepare for potential effects and disposed of the dangerous goods. His prompt action without a doubt in my mind either saved my crew or the upper class consumers who would have accidentally received these items.
With this situation resolved I don't believe I will be dabbling in the shipment of art any longer - at least not without hiring an independent expert to verify items prior to my purchase. It is indeed a shame that safe commerce is threatened not only by piracy in Sirius, but also by outright fraud on the subject of art and culture.
In conclusion, my crew and I remain grateful for Officer J.D. Masket's timely and professional assistance in this dangerous matter. Please ensure that his superiors are informed. Might I suggest this incident reflect favourably on his next evaluation for promotion and/or pay raise. Perhaps even a bonus is in order.
Sincerely,
Sarai Oreeshi

Wonderful to see how long it takes the wheels of bureaucracy to print this message and pass it to my desk. My apologies for the somewhat late reply.
Anyhow.
Happy to hear that your experience with Lt. Masket was a "pleasant" one - I presume the loss of a few millions worth of cargo isn't a pleasure, but trust me, it could have gone a lot worse. Most people that we find carrying artifacts - unintentionally or otherwise - usually don't take to it nearly as well as you. Hopefully you were insured against incidents like these.
And thank you for your feedback! I'll keep it in mind the next time I see him. A pay rise for doing his job properly (as I expect from all of my officers) would perhaps be a bit over the top, but a cup of coffee and a compliment on a job well done sure wouldn't hurt.
