Help! I've been trying to get this to work for ages, and to no avail.
I have read various other topics in order to get it to work, and I have had no sucess:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=90427

I can't find the link, but I read another topic and the guy said he fixed the problem by changing his resolution in C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\PrefOptions.ini because his video card didn't support the default resolution in Discovery (But, it supported it in normal Freelancer). After doing that, he fixed the problem.

I tried to do that, but it didn't work. My card DOES support Freelancer and it can run vanilla fine (for reference my card is better than the card of the guy above me).
Generally, I think my problem is that my card doesn't support the default 1280x920 resolution of Discovery. As I said I tried changing it, but to no avail. The maximum resolution it supports is 1024x768. I think I need to override the default, but discovery won't accept the setting in PrefOptions.ini
Please help me, I really enjoy Freelancer and I really want to play Discovery.

P.S Where does Discovery store/read the resolution settings from?

EDIT:
I found the thread with the other method I tried:
http://the-starport.net/freelancer/forum...t_id=25922

EDIT2:
Few things I should mention:
1. This happens at startup
2. I have bloom effect enabled
3. Direct3D Acceleration is enabled.

Disable bloom mod.

PSA: If you have been having stutter/FPS lag on Disco where it does not run as smoothly as other games, please look at the fix here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthrea...pid2306502

I had the same problem. Crashes, etc.
Here's the solution that had worked for me:
Reinstall freelancer while clicking "run as admin" and "in winXP compability" on the installer, install somewhere other than program files, C:/Freelancer is okay.
Don't install 1.1 patch.
Install freelancer discovery, BUT click "run as administrator" And run in "windows XP compability mode" on the installer. DO the same while updating to 3.8.6 update 6, and launching the game, but download freelancer account manager. And set screenres to your current screenres, after that launch the game. After the completion of all these steps, it should work.
EDIT: It has nothing to do with the bloom mod.
