More restrictions =/= better RP.
Wolf was right a couple of months ago, there is no room for good, unique RP anymore because everybody else gets offended.
More restrictions creates a lack of original RP. I am not for this proposal, I am not for any type of registration. I am not for people getting shot down for trying original and interesting RP. But we are creating a culture where it is only possible to fly as the NPC factions already present. Trying to fly as anything else is becoming ridiculously hard.
I'm all for better RP. I'll support any measure that enhances it. I am arguing the case for capship registration because I can see why it's there and I can also see it's not going away in a hurry, but I will not be enforcing any such measures for independent rogues. Even if my faction members are asking me to. I will not enforce a codename ban on independent Rogues, I will not support a codename restriction on any vessel.

This could be construed as PVPish concern. I for one, ( i know Im not all knowing so, correct me if Im wrong) have not seen any original RP that hinged on codenames. I also think in general whats good for the goose is good for the gander.
I don't think we should restrict prototype weapons on ships. Instead, I propose that each player must have at least one mounted gun/turret of the faction he/she is playing.

W00T!!! That means that my RM char is totalyl in-RP! I have four codes, one Imp. Deb., and a Hornviper turret! Whee for hornviper turrets!

Frankly neither have I but it's not about PvP in truth. Frankly PvP is merely a aprt of the game as far as I'm cocncerned, no what it's about is restricting further what people can and cannot do in game. The capship policy is not you cannot fly a capship it is give us a damn good reason to fly a capship, this idea is you cannot choose to fly with a loadout of codes. This would become a hard and fast rule that stifles some players and some factions. Honestly my bomber fleets could go the distance with Sammaels and Black Widows respectively but codenames just seem that much more efficient. As my Rogues only use codenames found from local suppliers and local wrecks, they aren't OORP in my eyes.

' Wrote:Oh yes lets keep restricting game play. I have a few more ideas you can run with.
All independent character ships will be registered on the "Dissident Ship List" Every ship will receive a individual convict identification number.
Weekly scan of all independent vessels by ZOI faction members. Failure to have ship scanned once a week will result in server ban. Failure to meet ZOI faction's weapons restriction of Lv1 weapons will result in server ban.
Mandatory Skype chat request of ZOI faction leader before any independent character ship can undock into space. Failure to wait for undocking authorization codes will result in server ban.
Mandatory ship travel log. Every system jump, station dock must be logged and handed over to the ZOI faction leader.
For every one independent character in game you must have two faction characters. Failure to maintain ratio will result in server ban.
Creation of independent characters is forbidden unless approval is granted from the "Discovery Inner Circle Ubber Members" Failure request permission will result in server ban.
All capital ships are restricted to faction leaders and "Discovery Inner Circle Ubber Members". Failure to obey restriction will result in server ban.
Any form of gameplay enjoyment is considered taboo. Self respect, individuality, independent thoughts and any other feeling of being alive will result in a server ban.
Nice. Shows the slow transformation that can take place if we continue down this road.

Code-whoring and indy persecution are two totally different things.
And like Tenacity said, ALL of his characters are independants and he's the one who sprung this idea.
There was something that went on between Tenacity and Gun Dealer Wellington. I don't see Codies as an issue, but if anyone else does, they would do well to find out about what happened and the timing of this post.
' Wrote:Most factions already have weapon restrictions in place, who's left? Oh yeah.
Also factions also seem to have no problems with four codies on a bomber, come to think of it, seems to be the unspoken standard.
edit:
Ivan is right, volsung has to be stopped at all cost. remove the codies!
That's why it's an indie bash. Even it if's unintended.

' Wrote:Our ships are competitive. I'd wager on the Vengeance-armed Liberator over the Suntiger-armed Eagle any day of the week; our ships are better, your guns are better. Balances it out. Plus, we're not a PvP-intensive faction, mostly we just sit around Liberty making jokes at our own expense.
Sorry Zapp, I've heard the 'it all balances out' argument many times before and its simply bogus.
For one thing, the current convention on the Server is to select a ship that is either created by your NPC faction, or made by a friendly faction. For example an Outcast flying a Blood Dragon. Put Outcast guns on a Blood Dragon...add an inferno into the mix and you have the most over powered fighter in the game. Put Daitos and a cruise disruptor on that same Blood Dragon and you only have a very fast ship with mediocre guns.
In order for faction ships and faction weapons to have a direct relationship in terms of balance we would have to create a rule that you can only use a ship that matches your ID/affiliation. I sincerely hope that never happens.
The only way some factions have to mitigate the unbelieveable crap that is their faction's weapons, is to add codenames to the mix. One ends up with ships that have a lot of codenames or a mix of codenames/nomads and missiles are those people who prefer to have their gun's muzzle velocities match for accuracy.
There aren't enough options for weapons in the class 10s to mix and match your faction's guns with them, so its either/or.
Fix the weapons in the mod first, then we can talk weapons limitations.
