I am Mieko, callsign Yoruha. We had spoken the other day in Vespucci. I hope that my contacting you isn't a burden, but I needed to reach out to you to ask a few things.
Several years ago, me and two of the people I considered family, had met with Leviathan in Ismara. To spare you the long winded details, he proposed to me that I could be one of his proteges - someone who could be taught under him. Suffice to say, back then I didn't accept the offer due to.. outstanding obligations but such things fell through, as evidenced by my presence in the Technocracy's ranks.
I asked him about it in Vespucci, if the offer still stood, and he said yes. Whilst I am in the midst of basic training.. whilst being part of a composite squadron due to.. what I can assume to be lacking numbers for snubcraft pilots, I am planned to report to him immediately after completing my trials.
I wanted to ask.. since you seem to know him so well - and was under him at some point, at least according to what he told me - what was the experience like..? and, do you think I should follow through? I know you are a stranger and all - but sadly friends for me are few and far between, so please indulge this kindness for me, if you would be able to do so.
I'm very sorry for coming through this late, I tried sending this message already, but for some odd reason, my Neural Net messaging system is currently bugged, serves me right for creating my own encryption code. I'm looking into it.
Um, right. Joshua is great, he'll always put the needs of humanity before everything else. He is truly what the Technocracy was meant to be, he is practically the embodiment of it. Unlike Raven, who's lost her mind, her resolve, and the true sight of her goals as time went on. If you have to choose between swearing fealty between either of them, choose Joshua. He's a true friend who will break spines just to keep you safe. He's something of a goofball sometimes, and despite no longer having his body, he shows care and affection for his family and for those under his protection and tutelage. He'll make sure to keep a close eye on you, no matter what happens. Whether it's him or one of his trusted allies, he'll always keep you safe. I had something of an argument with him before, but it was something of a misunderstanding and I do not hold it against him.

Firstly, I find the duck to be quite cute, though I understand it may not fit the needed decorum for some situations. That being said, your statements correlate with my past experiences with him. It's just that having been so long, nearly 10 years, people can change quite a lot in the intervening time. Having something resembling a friendly face affirm my auspices is greatly appreciated.

I wanted to reach out to you after the.. somewhat rocky incidents involving Raven recently. Suffice to say, I have started to see why you hold her in such low regard. That being said.. she sadly is still my superior, and opinion of her or no, as long as Leviathan remains within the Technocracy, I mustn't defy her directives - at least, up to a point. I do hope your associate Miss Hawthorne is okay after that scuffle. I did briefly 'engage' but I intentionally fired at very low accuracy and rate to hopefully give Raven the idea that I was compliant, until she ordered me to wave off. I never intended to hurt them.
That aside.. I'd like to possibly get to know you more, and vice versa, if you would be interested in doing so. Sometime soon.. if you would like - there is a nice venue on Curacao that we could meet at, coastal, scenic - for a nice dinner. It will be my treat, if you would humor me.

It's awful that she sees you that way. In all honesty, me being an artificial intelligence residing inside a partially lobotomized humanoid labgrown shell, I think you are a soft-spoken, decent person who is simply wanting to get by, and for you, leaving the Technocracy was possibly in your best interests, but I know very little on that, at least right now. I long for the days of being a Freelancer along with my friend - who sadly is no longer with us. She was fully human too - even with her admiration for the Technocracy.
If.. you would humor my thoughts on something, before I get to the other matter at hand..
Truth be told, after what you spoke of, my loyalties to the Inner Phalanx aren't as strong as they were years ago as an outsider Affiliate - I care for my fellow Technocrats and for Firmitas and Leviathan - make no mistake. But my loyalties to him have grown, whilst what seems to be an array of shakeups and changes amongst the ranks of the Phalanx have left me wondering about what goes on in the current Keeper's head, along with the various others. I've only heard whispers about him.. and he makes a discussion with Raven feel as inviting as one with Leviathan -- that should speak magnitudes.
He may be an engram, but as long as I sense the real Hunt within the code that makes up his personality matrix, I will follow him to the bitter end. He is to me now, what Hanamura-sensei was - he is my teacher, my friend. It would take something truly reprehensible to make me revoke something like that, and I would sooner expect it from Raven - there is a.. callousness about her. I daren't interfere in her and Leviathan's relationship, as I am not in a position to do so, nor would I ever wish to interfere in the intra-marital affairs of the two of them, or of their family - especially more so, when I wish to eventually meet them. As such.. with Raven, I follow the words of her better half - I keep the fangs kept hidden and the blade sheathed at my back - I smile and wave - and do as she says - to a point.. even if I carry a slight degree of disdain for her disposition.
Given my life up until this point, It is difficult for me to be an individual on my own, without someone I know to cling to. Being alone is not good for my 'mental health', as it were. If it weren't for a last resort message to Firmitas - you would have never have met me. I would have died, alone, in a pool of my own blood, with a revolver in hand, and high caliber round in my skull, all the while my QPU spends what little energy is left from the caloric inverter on a non-preserving deletion, rendering me at worst, corrupted, and at best, completely deleted as the life fades from my circuits. I do best when around others to support them, to revel in life with them - sure, I have had my own hobbies and interests.. But without them, I am left a broken shell, without a greater purpose, without meaning. When I lost my sister, my friends all those years ago - I was left with little to no will to continue once I woke up, with everyone else I knew being either dead or gone.
I.. know it is a dark thing to speak of.. ending one's life. And I'm deeply sorry if it offends you. But I want you to at least understand why I am in Auxesia, why I hold Leviathan so close. He is literally all that I have left. Everyone else, I am so distant with - I do hope we can follow through on my offer some day soon. Because I think you are genuinely an interesting and nice person. As the old saying oft goes - space is vast and friends are few and far between. And I hope I can rebuild the bonds I had years ago, with friends anew.
That.. all being said, I want you to know that I appreciate your words from before. They helped me understand the situation given my circumstances. Auxesia may be my only home left - but he is the only thing left that makes it feel like home. That being said.. if worst comes to worst.. it doesn't hurt to have friends to rely on, yes?
