829 AS - Increased pirate activity in the Magellan system!
Evacuation has begun!
VESPUCCI
The natives of Planet Vespucci had been waiting for a whole year for a decision on the Breton refugees and their future fate. The gradual increase in the material expenses of the exsanguinated people could not fail to attract attention, for which drastic measures were required.
On March 7, the results of Isaac Barrington's efforts toward this planet became known: an evacuation operation was announced for refugees from the planet Vespucci to the planets Erie and Yuma in the Pennsylvania and Coronado systems, respectively. The ships of the Veracruz battle group will bear direct responsibility for the ships' escort, and Isaac himself assumes responsibility for the further development of the organizational arrangements for the evacuation. Recall that the evacuations are designed to reduce the Bretonian portion of Veracruz, thereby reducing costs to residents, and this will allow resources to be put into more significant industries for the planet.
For now, all Bretonian refugees who lost their documents during the war receive duplicates, which will not allow them to be officially confirmed as belonging to their native home, but should play a significant role in the search for persons in the Kingdom's citizenship database. In addition, each evacuee is checked for weapons and any dangerous items: attempts to cause bloodshed on the evacuation ships will be suppressed!
So far we have been able to interview several refugees who are preparing to pack for departure:
Paul Jordan Wrote:Me and my family can finally leave this planet! This sounds like great news, because I want to get my family back to a safe place. I was given a ticket to Yuma. Crayter seems like a good place for me to start from scratch. I made a lot of mistakes in that life, one of which was living on the Leeds planet. I won't make the same mistake twice, because now I have the second chance you gave me.
Marian Craig Wrote:It's certainly a good thing that now I have a peaceful sky over my head and peaceful days ahead of me. I might face everyday life again, but I appreciate it much more now than all the horror I've had to endure all these years. Veracruz is an uncomfortable place for us, and I am glad that the Insurgency has been sympathetic to our situation. It's about time we got out of here!
Baldwin Nelson Wrote:I have a lot of interest in politics, and I have heard about who is behind it all! Isaac is a great person who will bring many victories to all those who are faithful to the ideals of Insurgency. This man combines cold calculation with sincerity. There are few like him in this world, and we should appreciate what he does! And I... My new chapter in life begins on Erie. We'll see how it goes from here, but I'll do my best to make sure the newly arrived refugees are provided with food and comfort. I guess I'll be volunteering at first? Why not, sounds as good idea.
Linette Moore Wrote:I had to live in uncomfortable barracks built underground. So did many others. I can't believe it won't be long before the dark skies of unfriendly Veracruz are replaced by beautiful views of Yuma! Those who do this for us are great people, and I owe them my life. I know I'm of no use on the battlefield with the Liberty fleet, but I will try to help others on Yuma. I think Crayter will accept my help. We have suffered too long, and I will for the rest of my life remember the names of those who were able to say "Stop!" to this arbitrariness!
Liner Barbados will become a beacon for evacuation ships, providing shuttles and passing liners with all available means: mending, fuel from its reserves, and loading refugees aboard. Med Forces Enterprises is committed to providing medical care to those refugees who may have needed it for such a long time.
Based on recent news, rumors of possible cooperation between the Liberty Fleet and the Insurgency on the issue of refugee evacuation may become a reality: Helena Braus saying she will act as ambassador in negotiations with the 46th Fleet, which should take place any day now. If all is successful, the refugees will have a safe road through Liberty space and even under escort of the Navy forces. At the moment we do not know the position of the Bretonian side, but we can say that the joint rescue of refugees can become a common cause, which will allow us to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
All information about the progress of the evacuation can be obtained here.
Veracruz News Agency will keep the community of the native system up to date on events.
