' Wrote:What people don't understand is that IDs have no existence inRP. No, the smuggler ID doesn't say "Hey, I'm a smuggler" because inRP you are not supposed to see that ID.
Unfortunately admins said once IDs can be used IRP and OORP wise, and adoprting them into RP is possible and generally isn't against rules.
As far as I know, there's no need for mercenary, independant trader and smuggler IDs. More IDs then needed, remove them and keep Freelancer IDs, all of their advantages.
If I fly with smuggler ID, the least I expect is some suspicion. Not downright treated as a criminal, but I always imagined it as 'something fishy' with the transponder. And if someone goes 'help! There's a smuggler!' my reaction is 'Hell, he knows me...' and not 'you shouldn't know that, it's an oorp item'. The current state is good. Most leave you be, but you can never be sure.
I think if someone has problem with such treatment, he should fly with trader or 'lancer ID.
I fly with a smuggler ID and if anyone accuses me of being one i get angry in RP:)
"How dare you accuse me, etc"
unless, of course, i am carrying something i shouldn't
About freelancer ID, it rely makes no sense, independant trader/miner/merc IDs cover it all, and you will not buy new ship every day because you want to stop trading for a few hours and start mining. I think freelancer id/iff should be ONE of a kind id that is preserving original freelancer lore of having any fighter/bomber(freelancer should not fly caps except for occasional GB) with any weapons layout, contrary to all the other IDs, i don't think it would hurt faction diversity that much since all the other IDs should still respect this rules. Otherwise it can be as well removed as it is useless as it is.
I saw you walking down the streat, your eyes, your lips, your nose, everything was so perfect. I started singing "who let the dogs out."

Treating that person have a criminal records is checking a neural net - forumlance a bit.
The admins have stated that it's allowed, so it's allowed. I'm sure that people don't want to sit there and wait for five minutes while I search all over the forums for them, either.
Edit: What's allowed is treating the ID in a general fashion. E.g., a person with a pirate or smuggler ID is a known criminal, a person with a Rogue ID has known affiliations with the Rogues. What's not visible in-RP is the exact rules text of the ID. So, you shouldn't ever tell someone "Your ID says you can't do XYZ" and try to call that in-RP.
