Guten tag, this is Vizeadmiral Hans Putzkammer, current commander of Rheinland forces in omega 3.

The war in Omega 3 is one of self preservation for Rheinland. I hope you understand that your government's reaction to us embargoing military vehicles for Bretonian corporations was drastic. We had even just started allowing [Convoy] personnel to transport military vehicles when this mess started. I also hope you can understand that Rheinland cannot accept the Bretonian aristocracy's one key demand: The restoring of rights for their trade companies to buy and ship Rheinland military grade munitions. While we might have been willing to negotiate before, and did so successfully with [Convoy], their cutting off of Rugen from Rheinland, and following armed enforcement of the embargo has led Rheinland to take the position that supplying arms to the people shooting us would be foolhardy. Thus we have been forced headfirst into conflict, seeing as the Bretonian aristocracy cannot drop that one key demand even after days of negotiation. A conflict for the protection of Rhineland assets in the omegas as well as protection from the apparently mad government running your country.

That being said, we have no quarrel with the peoples of Bretonia. We understand that this seems to be the fault of your ruling body. Therefore, we would like to do anything we can to help the people of Bretonia regain control of this madness.

If you would accept, Rheinland offers to support you and your men unconditionally in your struggle for justice and freedom.

Planet Cambridge with its average population age of around 23, our future lies on that planet in its upcoming students, from all the thousands of schools and university campus's there. Not to mention Cambridge is our most fertile planet, if we lose cambridge we would not be able to feed our military, the rest of bretonia will wither and die. We... Just simply can not allow the course of action that has taken place, to continue.

so my distaste for you will be put aside for the moment, nay even dropped.. Aboard this ship, there are wives, husbands, sons and daughters, all looking to me for what to do. When word of potential conflict broke out not one person aboard this ship could possibly believe that it would get so far.

We fought in the first battle, jumping in late to suprise the enemy armour. *he shakes his head* it was not a fight, it was a slaughter... a massacre. The Endeavour suffered heavy damage but somehow we managed to get out of that mess alive.. we lost 6 capital ships in under 30 seconds, can you hear that Mr goodman, and people of bretonia. the first 30 seconds of the war, Bretonia lost over 6500 servicemen and women. I lost 342 good crew members escaping from that terrible scene.

Things have to change, We abaord the Endeavour believe it can do.. Those that wished to fight for the queen still, were granted the permission to return to norfolk, the rest, believe in what I believe, and apparently what Mr Goodman Believes too...

We will help you, save Bretonia.

"I would rather see this war ended between Rheinland and Bretonia. I don't care who the hell started it, both sides are to blame as far as I can see it. I'll also assume that after you get this transmission, that any chance of an audience with the Kanzler will be denied.

Vice Admiral, if you thought for one moment, that I would allow aid from people who apparently attacked Freeport One, and Bowex vessels in Bretonian space. Then you were wrong. Civilian lives were lost, Admiral, and that is something I want to prevent.

I'm going to put my demands up straight. No one wanted this war, and because of open conflict, I had to do something off the wall. I don't care about your bloody pride, nor the Bretonian's pride. Like I told you in Omega 3 Austin, I consider ALL these wars between alliance Houses to be pointless, but sometimes you have no choice but to fight.

But posturing aside, I have a question for you; I never saw you trying to stop the Bretonia Kusari war, a war about what? Corporate greed for some ore fields in the taus. Why are you so determined to stop THIS war? This war about Rheinland MURDERS? Why didnt you demand an uprising when the Kusarians and Bretonians first locked horns?

Dear Mr. Goodman

I'm going to have to make this brief as I am due on partol soon.

I have sympathies with you I really do. I hate war, I not a natural Soldier, I was born on Leeds and realise the horrendous effects war can have. So please understand what I am about to say, as I am no warmonger.

How can the war be ended? Agression leads to agression. This has esculated beyond trade disputes and the concerns of a few independents. People in Bretonia genuinly beleive that (and Rhineland citizens I am sure do as well) that this is a war of survival. That both sides want to destroy the other. Surrender to Rhineland may be the only way to bring peace, and under those circumstances the Kanzler could make excessive demands, crippling the economy and forcing us to reduce are armed forces or to hand over sovreign territory containing Bretonian Subjects.

Neither side wants to stop fighting because, they feel they are under a death sentance if they do....and they may be right. Who ever wins who knows what concessions might be demanded. I desperatly want to beleive peace can be achived...but I can't. Your intentions are admirable, but that is not how the Universe works. Simply whishing the fear to end on both sides won't deliver anything. A peace has to be fair and equal on both sides, with both Goverments realising the other is jsut as scared of being wiped out as they are.

This would be the only way to get peace but I ahve yet to here of any way in which this could be done.

Mr Goodman, and all those whom this may concern within this channel,

I sadly must concur with your views. A simple trade dispute. That was the basis for this massive conflict that has now seen the involvement of all the four major houses. Bretonia instating conscription, calling to arms those who fuel their industries. It's a gesture of desperation, and a sign that this nation did not have the military strength required to gain any success in this conflict.

On the other side, Rheinland. Already deeper in debt then they were at the end of the 80 year war. And yet there is still, somehow, a militarization underway that rivals the start of the Nomad wars. No doubt fueled by the same disastrous resource stripping that saw the fields of Dresden all but exhausted, some twenty years ago. The nation is wielding a bigger sword then it can carry, and the strain of that will be on the backs of future generations. For what do you think would happen, should Rheinland decide to default on it's loans, now largely with just Kusari? Will Rheinland need to cede additional planets to foreign corporations? Holstein or Nuremburg, owned by Samura, as Stuttgart was once taken by Synthfood? Has Rheinland learned nothing from it's past?

This conflict, still young, has already brought both nations considerable harm. There are ways to call an end to it. The basis being a trade dispute over the procurement of military hardware - this could be resolved through the use of a third party, or negotiations between those involved.
The survival of both nations being considered to be at stake - this could be resolved by utilising the Omega borderworlds as a buffer zone. A demilitarization of the region, banishing the use of warships larger then gunboats from being present within these systems, would effectively end any true threat to the nations themselves. Smaller patrol craft could still surpress piracy.

It is a vain hope to return to the past, but historically, the Omega border worlds were left independent for the sole reason that they would serve as a buffer between the great houses, thus reducing friction from being at eachother's doorstep. Given the stakes Daumann, Kruger and BMM have in these borderworlds, this friction is only likely to increase over time. Without a relief to such tensions, even ending the fighting now, would only set both nations up for a renewed conflict in the future.

I cannot yet speak for the Independent Miners Guild in this matter, so these are just my personal views on the situation. I hope reason will prevail. Nothing good shall come from this. Not for the people of Rheinland, nor for the citizens of Bretonia.
