Its a choice that was made back in the days that i was president and Templar the admiral.
At the time, it looked like the best option. Neutral but not entirely, in a remote edge of the universe, out of sight from most of the main forces. Except the Outcast, that is. Basicly.. as neutral as you can be if your not a Zoner or Angel.

Sir,
Remnants of the BG-66 are grateful for your offered assistance. With your permission, we'll be transferring our Vipers Mk I recon squadron to Java. It will serve as a forward observation point for scouting out Tau-23/37 for possible Outcast/pirate activity. Due to tactical and logistical reasons, for now, our raptor squadron and interceptor Mk II squadron will remain aboard IMG battleship Hood.
Looking forward on cooperating with the UKMG

The IMG appreciated the fact that their new Colonial friends were once employed by Planetform Inc. Much like the thrill seeking miners were once employed by BMM. The IMG and =CR= are two peoples rejecting similarly corrupt and abusive Royal corporations.
The other thing the IMG like about =CR= is that the Colonials are phenominal explorers and navigators. Its a bi-product of 15 years of travel through deep space evading Cylons. The Colonials where able to give the IMG an edge against competing mining outfits by augmenting their survey efforts throughout Sirius. It was on one of these cooperative surveys that Tau-44 was discovered, giving the refugees their home. A colonial survey pilot, flying a retro fitted Spatial called the Dargov lead the search.
