I'm thinking of getting someone to host the original version of Discovery soon. The problem is that I don't know where to find that someone. But before I start looking for a host, I'd like to have your opinions on the matter. Also, I'll ask Igiss if he can open up another sub forum for the server under the Freelancer category here.
For those of you who don't know, Discovery 4.76 is very much like vanilla FL. There are no new ships, systems, or weapons. All it does is enhance FL by unlocking all ships, and by including the usual minor modifications to the AI.
Now I don't want you to leave Discovery 4.79 and come over to me, but if you think you can manage playing on two servers simultaneously, please join. I'll be giving 80m starting credits to anyone who joins from these forums. This isn't a bribe, I just don't want anyone to start from scratch. I know how that feels. ;)
So... who's with me?

I'm sorry for having to interfere in here Denier, but you don't have to tell people where they should post and where they should not... that's moderators' task.
Taking into account how many changes were introduced apart from new ships and other 'new' things that you would like to avoid, I won't expect massive support of this idea here. Only way you can start a server like this is to post news at TLR and explain why you are starting it.
So you want to play Discovery like it used to be in the beginning?
You mean with real laggy server, and mostly only russian speaking players online?
Which usually couldn't speak english? :D
That's what it was like in the beginning. I was there. Great times though. :)
Anyhoo, I'll just stick with this version for now.
Hmm, a little question for Igiss: is the old russian forum still online somewhere?
Just wondering since I lost the link at one point.
Although I could probably find it over at Arwen's forum.

Denier, do you remember all the testing that Wrath did? In those days Discovery was fun but unbalanced. For example, bs weapons used no energy and had no class, - Wrath was flying round with them mounted on a Sabre - it was mad. Some changes along the way I've not agreed with, but I now trust Igiss's judgement as they've been good changes.
Role-played characters:
daedalus - Liberty Navy
bandersnatch - Ruthless criminal possessed by a (huge) alien
Shredder - Small-time Kusari pirate, looking to join the Blood Dragons

I'm not telling them not to reply. I'm telling them they dont have to reply.
Daedalus: Sure the new version is balanced, but why the new ships? I can stand new systems, and maybe new weapons, but not new ships. I mean, they don't even fit into the FL universe. =/
