...I was hooked on Total Annihilation for a while, then Homeworld, then Half-Life.
I'm sure at some time I played a lot of console games. Though since I found FL they're all just gathering dust.
Ah yes Total Annihilation... thats the game everyone who was REALLY serious about RTSs loved. Starcraft can go to hell.
DoD alot, Silent Hunter 3, were the only ones that ever really held my before FL Discovery (never hung around with FL after single player when I bought it in 03).
1991 the first PC... ...speaker sound... aah.. good old times.
Heh, the post above you is only from June of 2006. Slight gravedig:P
For me it started with N64 at my friend's house. Game designers were so smart back then. "Lets make the characters all plastic toy army men, then we don't have to do any textures!"
Then when I was 8 or something I got into Runescape. That went okay until my 9th birthday when I realized that I had become the oldest person there, at least emotionally!
Immediately preceding Freelancer was the Freelancer trial. I must have played that 20 times until I got the full game.
A decade and a half, and no game console to show for it:P
Heh i started playing games on Sega console, was really popular at time(before 10 years) Then bought playstation 1 in 1998, having still that pice today:)Then i got brand new Pentium III, wich cost fortune back then(bout 2500$). Then i began with Quake and Doom, also Carmaggedon was fun to play, Warcraft 2 and 3, GTA, Red alert, Solider of Fortune, Age of Emipires(love that one) Red Faction 1 and 2, TES all sequals, i love that game, still playing morrowind and oblivion.....
My first foray into the gaming world was Scramble on my ZX81 with 16kb RAM pack. Man I was proud of that!! From that I progressed onto my dad's Apple IIe. Leisure Suit Larry was the one that hooked me if my hazy memory serves. From there to my very first PC!!! A 386, then a 486. From there to my very first Pentium90 and the world of Doom found me, and my friends. Many, many happy hours wasted when I should have been studying for my degree (that I never got :$. I did eventually though, just 7 years later!!:yahoo:). Halflife, Heroes, Call of Duty, Baldurs Gate all rank highly.
Before all of that, when there were no computers, I played outside!!! :rtfm::rtfm::rtfm:
I was a child of the 70's living on a commune in Scotland. There was 1 TV :shok: that we all shared and complete and utter freedom to roam the surrounding areas . Woods, lochs (lakes to the sassenachs), rivers, wildlife. Ah, those were the days....... ***sighs whistfully***
EVERYTHING, you name it ive probably played it (other than RTS's never have been fond of them other than the 1st to C&C's) nes as a wee lad, snes as a big wee lad, PSX as a medium lad, ps2 as a large ugly teenage lad. and pc games ofcourse.
mostly all of em single players though FL was probably thee game that got me into online games when i was 13-14 played on jolt way back then under the name Dark Dragoon. then near the end of my playing time on Jolt i created RoS. where we ended up hopping to the Alliance server one of the 1st custom mod servers where you could buy your own systems etc but wasn't anything special. later on left to nightmare 24/7 server when they where switching from vanilla to evolution mod to help a old BCK clan buddy in need trying to PR for the evolution server there i became a admin and quite well known with the RoS. then i quit for 2 years and here i am ^^
1980-1983: father bought a Radio Shack TRS-80 model 1. Upgraded with expanded CPU and 5.25 floppy drive-used it to play Asteroids when I was 4 years old.
1983-84: Computer geek of an uncle gives the family a Texas Instruments console. Plug into the living room TV and play Pitfall.
1984-86: Dark ages with no video games
1986-1989: Commodor 64: More games than I can recall, most apt and memorable were ARCHON (like chess with nasty pieces,) and ZAXXON.
1990: 286, 25 mhz desktop with Windows 3.0-Wing Commander, Hells Kitchen anyone? I played through that game at least 5 times.
1992-1993: 486, 100 mhz desktop with Windows 3.1-Wing Commander 2, same story, X-Wing
1997: College roomate's PS2, Final Fantasy 7, I went on to get a degree, the roomate flunked out!
1999: Diablo
2000: Diablo 2 and Shattered Galaxy-first child born, fed her while gaming (no lie)
2002: More Shattered galaxy, bought Freelancer-played the Single player version but was very frustrated with the multiplayer, put it back on the shelf.
2005: Eve for 6 months then gave up because of memory leaks in the game
