Well, OSI RPing a ship manufacturer is a lot more useful than Renzu, given that OSI actually has control over their own shipline. A Renzu faction wouldn't be able to give their ships to anyone, because they're already available to everyone.

Plus, what ID would such a faction use?

You can very easily get a repair ship, rep it DSE, and go role play you are repairing a trade lane. Why isn't it done? You gain nothing that is tangible from it.

Ageira used to do that. Even in Rheinland. It was good fun.

One of the big things that every product-offering faction should do, even Renzu, is advertising. Fund media, plaster it in the forums, comm board, news board, and even in game.

You could very easily RP a Renzu Sales Rep in game, in New York, telling potential ship buyers all about there exciting shipline, and why they should fly a Wasupu over say, an Eagle. Then maybe offer financing on said ship.

I have an IND Touketsu, it is actually pretty good if you know how to use it. It's a pretty mean shotgun platform.

Also, Anki rocks hard.

In role play we do. No, no one really role plays it in game; other than me and the chances in game are very few. It isn't impossible to role play ship builders. You however cannot build an entire faction in game around it.

Notice factions like IC, Ageira, and DSE? DSE builds a ton of stuff. In game? Traders. IC own all and insure all. In game? Traders. Ageira is a tech super power. In game? Traders.

I'm not saying role playing Renzu in game is impossible. I'm saying you'd end up turning it into another trade faction in order to attract players and have activity.

Unfortunately, due to the limiations of the game, this is true.
