But yeah, I can see a problem with the Resource consumption idea then that could be a problem. Does the gun consume 1000 H-fuel/hour just sitting there or only when it is firing?
Also I like the idea of making the stations have guns that are upgrade able also the idea of having the station selfdestruct after a certain time and permakill the ships inside of them. Maybe not battleships but certainly everything up to gunboats and a 50% chance for killing cruisers and a 25% chance for killing battleships might be nice. If it can be coded. I have to go for now but will post more thoughts later.
Also I like the idea of weapons platforms. the current price- eeeeeeehhh not so much

So how about something along the lines of this.
Limit 5 Weapons turrets per station
Stations cannot be within 25k of each other

This weapons platform makes use of smuggled/advanced military designs and proprietary technology from several sirius spanning/military/house wide pirate/neutral/internal nations/groups/research division(s) to deliver high quality protection from small capitol class vessels/snubcraft.
Just delete whichever is innapropriate

I agree with the anti fighter platforms. But keep in mind a anti cap platform can be shot down by a single BS. It should be much harder to take down such a heavy defense platform.
There also should be upgrades for the weapons of the platforms to increase the damage if you ever would want to place a defense 'device' like that.
I think the amount of armor should not exceed 500.000
Keep in mind, that a single platform ist not supposed to take on battleships on it's own. They are meant as addition to fighter squads and battleship patrols.
Having platforms with same or even more hitpoints as a BS would be quite strange.
I am also writing on an idea of having stationary Cruisers as a line of defense with more HP.

Why should stationary defense systems have less armor? I do not get it. It is known that stations or other buildings are much more stable than ships. Also: I am not talking about a platform that can destroy BS's but to prevent them from getting closer and probably loosing their shields. You know that a mortar has a range of 4k so a stationary defense platform should be able to do that too, and yes the cap or whatever would attack should take damage even from that distance. A defense station, for example, only equipped with EMP's can be very helpful to make caps unable to fire their loads because of the energy drain.
Personally, Discovery is a roleplay server and Player-Controlled/Built/Operated bases should be predicated on such.
I don't want to spend hours building one just to find out some lolwutter in a Battleship just came by and decided to throw a few Mortars at it. Got hit a bit, then docked, repaired, and came back.
No RP. Station is gone.
If a station is to be removed/destroyed, it should be via the consent of both parties. I'd say make them similar to the Zone-21 Weapons Platforms which go inert when the hull is at "zero" but slowly regenerate their hull and go online again.
Keep in mind - The Developers have also tried out ships as weapons platforms. Such as a Liberty Battlecruiser guarding the Virginia Hole in Texas. They also discovered that adding a Light Mortar to it made it crash when you tried to leave the system, and are working on a way around that.
Personally, I'd like to be able to buy and place Minefields...

Something like 10-20 mil max should be enough. Also the effect that if the hullpoints are reaching zero the platforms are not completely destroyed, only 'deactivated' till it has hullpoints again.

Yeah, except for long range weapons. If there would be a possibility to change the fire range of pulse turrets on stations (just as an example) then make the range something about 5 k so it would be much harder for enemy caps.
