Ok i know its been suggested before but more missions. Ones that, as suggested on a post before, suit what we fly like bombers, caps.
But also i think it would be cool to have really hard ones that require a condition to be met before you do them. For example one condition could be form a group of 3 caps 2 bomber and 3 fighters. The mission could then be take down a hard space station with caps etc.
Another example. The condition is form a group of two fighters and a transport. Mission is transport the precious cargo to location b, pirates/enemy are expected along the way.
Im not very creative but you get the idea. Big rewards and something similar to a post level raid would be good too.

Mission Variety:
I've seen a lot of missions, but they are all quite the same.
Now i know what you are thinking:
This has been the problem to the original Game and on an RP its up to you to find interesting peaople and encounter interesting situations.
But fact is: to get the **** (ship) you want to fly you often have to rep for several hours which has nothing to do with roleplay AT ALL
And this part could be made more interesting, even with some little adjustments.
Take the anti capship missions:
Right now they are not to well balanced.
I think at this time there is a poor variety and in these missions either you got plenty of fighters,
or several ossies to fight against.
-Add some anti capship missions for other factions apart from BHG and Corsairs/Outcasts. Other factions have capships too, or they would not be bulding/selling them.
If you are repping for RM, why dont you throw in some missions, where the hessians have captured some gunboat like ship and you have to destroy it.
-Add some different Station models. For now we have the Large Space staion and the weapons platform. Isn't it possible to add some other models that have different charactersistics like HP, hotspots, towers.
-Add some rewards: More Money or Maybe one of the stations has a storage full of cardamine!?
-Add some easy to code missions like:
-Cargo dump. Waste disposal (could be done with a "/") Maybe into an asteroid field or into the sun...
-Prison Transport/VIP Transport wildly getting attacked by npcs but well paid.
-Escort freighter.
-Espionage (take some pictures of a certain base)
-Sabotage-Destroy a depot near a NPC main base)
-Jack Bauer Mission - Bring an bomb to a Station and get the hell away before it blows up, and kills everybody..

Concerning the ongoing war, it would be interesting to have some destructable / damageable stations.
I am thinking about some of the border stations, like this captured Battleship in Orbit of Kiel (which name it forgot)
Destroying or damaging a station would ruin you rep permanently.
Greetings,i realise that this is already planned and will probably be implemented either way however i must note something concerning the use of turret steering on fighters which is quickly becoming popular with the former gunboat and cruiser captains.The reason for that would be that when using it,it basically becomes possible for the former BUGS which was the 90 degrees mini razor and such to be used at will while maneuvering,before the said BUG was used without being able to maneuver except for the strafes but this makes fighter combat completely different and makes it possible for a small group of fighters to dodge out and just fire at will even if the enemy is at their backs and still win even if outnumbered,using turret zoom makes things even further out of balance,if i remember right a zoom configuration was not at all an uncommon reason for a perma ban in the past,and this is way further than only that....if there is a way to exclude fighters and bombers from the turret steering and turret zoom i urge you to explore the option...because quite simply this changes the essence of fighter combat

This gave me an idea!!!
I realize that making cap ships dockable to players may be a very difficult thing to implement.
But what if instead of (or in addition to) being able to dock on them, cap ships could dispense (spawn) npc fighters? this would completely change the feel of a cap ship as well as the strategy for taking them down. no longer would a cap ship just simply be a giant floating boat that turns like a brick and has lots of hull and lots of guns. But now the cap ships would be formidable opponents to everyone! PLUS HOW COOL WOULD THAT BE HONESTLY!?!?!
you could do it like missle launchers. it would take up a weapon slot, perhaps some cargo space, and the "ammo" would be freelancers/mercenaries/recruits that you could buy from a planet!
you could even make it so that different cap ships spit out different npcs depending on their faction!
i'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet but i had to post it. i got the idea and suddenly got really excited of the thought of me spawning 30 fighters to cover me while i destroy planet Manhattan HAHA

they will make carriers, its planned. will most likely be released in 4.86 but might go in 4.87. though I'm not sure of the capacity to dock NPCs in your hold.

Anyways, My idea was to customize ships in either increasing their Speed, Power House, Turn Rate's Etc Etc with buy-able upgrades.
But to stop people just stocking up on crazy amounts of upgrades, Limit the amount that they can buy by only have a limited amount of space to put them, like hard points.
EG: Say a light fighter can only carry 4 upgrades you could arrange them either:

And also can we make weapons visuals more better, when they hit target ,make a explosion or something intresting. Now only mortars are doing this cool job.in other weapons case it looks that the target vessel just obsorbing the weapon hits and no extra visual effects.expcept tinies

I think that Discovery is a Well balanced mod and completely diffrent from others and carrying the original story with great balance , Except some features
If Disco add these features ,it become the one and only ultimate mod for freelancer ever made. Features who made it more realistic ,like
1- Make all astroied fields like in 88 flak ,in which even big astroieds are floating ,not like a nail in the wall.it makes the game more realistic ,intresting and easier for all type of caps to move through astroied fields .please add this feature now or in future .:)
2-Increased AI skills.
3-Wingmen Purchasing for Caps
and please add other good features from other mods which are unique and marge them into 1 ,Discovery:)

I guess, crying for more developments are not the best idea, if the current or 4.86 will be fixed and balanced thats a victory.
My Idea would be that the capital ships would cost more, since every little boy buys one and uses without thinking. Like the one who is shooting every red contacts on radar....
I hope that the docking system will be great, I want to see that. I don't know how they'll solve it but that is a good feature.

well, my 5 cents
1. Support the idea of expanding the game in the missions. Convoy escort, siege, blockade, assault, destruction of databases and so on. Increase their complexity and cost for them. Plus, place the heaviest missions, upgrade armor with NPC.
2. Question. Why aircraft carriers, battleships armed with much more? There is a view that the battleships, the main hold them busy with a generator, which generates a lot of energy for the cannons. At the same aircraft carriers another task - to deliver fighter jets. That is, hold is engaged in the courts and space for the generator should be significantly less than that will affect the firepower of the ship. There is a proposal to lower the power of aircraft carriers in exchange for a greater capacity for small vessels and vice versa for the battleships.
3. I noticed a large gap between the houses and other factions regarding combat power. Namely, the use of capital ships. There is a proposal to introduce a new type of ships under the name of the small landing ship or large landing ships for homes.
What's in it?
Small fractions of the game that clearly does not have the resources to build battleships, cruisers and probably have too rough for the fire power of the court, but they will give a little multi-purpose vessels capital houses.
For a small fraction of landing ship:
- Be able to take on board some ships
- To provide a bigger firepower in battle than the gunboat
- Increases the fraction of total power, while respecting the history, that the faction did not have the resources to build heavy ships.
- Be able to provide fighter cover, at the expense of a larger armor than the gunboats having a place for missile turrets.
In history we can write that was built on a custom faction for any (civilian) shipyards
Figuratively Let us estimate the small landing craft option:
Armor 230 000 - 300 000 (no more than the heavy cruisers)
Firepower 1 million - 1.7 million
Turrets in the mixed type of gunboat (8th grade) and cruisers (grade 9)
Self-propelled
CD, CM
number of turret 8 - 10
Maybe two torpedoes on each side of the vessel
Shield - cruisers, 250 000.
Hold - 4000 (given that the bomber will take hold in 2000, very heavy fighter will take hold in 1300, and heavy - 900, you get 2 or 3 heavy bomber fighter or 4 heavy Fighter)
In fact we get a mixture of gunboats with the cruiser, but in larger sizes than the cruiser and capabilities of small aircraft carrier, but the category of an aircraft carrier will not fall because of its poor design. The essential difference is that this category of the vessel (the only one of all others, given the major competitors - the aircraft carriers) will be able to dock a gunboat. Of course, and the size of the vessel must be in the proportions in order to hold back the gunboat.
For example gunboat will take hold of 4000-5000, so the hold capacity of 10 000 is available for download two gunboats or five bombers, etc. This type is suitable for Bretonia or Liberty.
In a very large landing craft capacity 18000 - download three more gunboats and small vessels. But at the same time it will ship more and more slowly in control. This type of vessel suitable for Kusary, Gallia and Rheinland.
