In a recent thread there was mention of the GMG supplying all h-fuel to the great houses and the Corsairs refusing to have a treaty with GMG.
I've always considered Corsairs and Outcasts as the 5th and 6th houses. Founded by sleeper ships at the same time the other 4 houses were. Both having planetary populations and systems under their control for the past 800 years.
While not being as large as Rheinland or the other 3 great houses they are still large enough to give them a run for their money.
So, if Corsairs are enemies of GMG were do Corsairs get their h-fuel from?
Also, I have seen RM get very trigger happy towards GMG. Shoot on sight all GMG ships orders and such.
How is Rheinland gettting their H-fuel with that policy?
I always came to the conclusion that the Zoners would supply the H-Fuel to the Corsairs, due to the Zoners being allied with the GMG, as for Rheinland. I'm guessing another gas mining corporation would take this up for them(a rheinland one) because it's been 80 years since the GMG vs. Rheinland war so they would of definitely found a new source by now.
Judging by Rheinland's engine color and the shape of their engine trails I'm willing to bet that they use something dirtier and heavier than H-Fuel to power their ships, possibly MOX or even straight Plutonium. I mean, looking at Liberty's engine you can clearly see some kind of direct pulse fusion reactor, so we can probably identify what kind of engines all the different factions use on their ships if we apply ourselves to it. Project, anybody?

Mannheim Station is the farthest outpost of the once vast Kruger Mineral concern, mining resources from the nearby gas giant, Munich. The impure gas resources collected from Munich, however, require the re-synthesis of H-Fuel in a process that is uneconomical, but which provides one of the few sources for H-Fuel in Rheinland space.
that's where the H-fuel comes from....
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
i thought ships had a fusion drive that required no supply. - anyway.. when its about the engine effects. i think they are of course only for the looks and to underline certain characteristics rather than economical issues concerning the factions.
liberty with their rings look light, clean, and sort of pure - with mainly silver, white, blue colours
kusari are traditional, like their ships - a fireanimation and fire colour
rheinland is just underlining the heavyness. their ships look like factories with wings and so they need exhausts that are smoking something that looks poisenous.
trying to interprete too much into it wont work, i think... unless igiss makes something up for it.
when it comes to economics - i do not think that chris roberts payed any thought on "if the economy would really work and if every faction gets all the supplies they need" - but yes, its fun to speculate about it....
I have a (dull) theory about engine effects (partially sounds) and fuel usage, let me introduce it:
Rheinland (Green with smoke) - Plutonium-MOX mix, ratio 1:3
Liberty (Silver with rings) - H-fuel-MOX mix, 3:1
Bretonia (Blue) - MOX-H-fuel mix, 3:2
Kusari (Yellow fire) - Pure H-fuel
Civilian (Like Liberty, but different sound) - H-fuel-Deuterium mix, 4:1
Borderworld (Like Liberty, but with different sound) - H-fuel-Deuterium mix, 3:1
Order/Pirate/Corsair (Same sound as BW, but with red, bunsen burner like flame) - MOX-Deuterium mix, 4:3
Civilian Capital Ships (Yellow-blue) - MOX-H-fuel mix, 3:5
Yeah, the theory is like I said very dull, and is just in its first stages. Feedback is appreciated.
