Well that could be true but landing on Rheinland bases with GMG tag and ID doesn't sound too realistic to me.. And the military would always have their free will to act accordingly in their own space..
Well Samura has largest H-Fuel shipping facility in Sirius, second is Gas Miner Ogashawa, joint Kishiro and GMG mining and shipping facility.
Quote:A swirling world of blue and green, this is a relatively recently opened
system, first discovered by GMG miners in 550 AS, searching for new deposits to replace the gradually diminishing supplies in Sigma-13. It soon became their richest grounds, its only disadvantage being a very long distance to market -- the Jump Hole that traversed the gap to Sigma-13 was too small and unstable for large commercial transports. The GMG, tired of their unequal relationship with Samura, turned to Kishiro. In exchange for 50% financing of a Jump Gate from Honshu to Sigma-19, they gave half the gas mining rights in Sigma-19 to Kishiro. The gate was built in 650 A.S., marking a turning point in the relations of GMG and the two Kusari industrial giants. Samura looked on nervously as their 300 year old monopoly with the GMG began to crumble.
The newly constructed joint GMG/Kishiro base of Ogashawa is now the second largest H-fuel shipping platform, after Samura's massive Osaka facility.

Yes, the war between GMG and Rheinland is over... But according to the board, they still consider each other hostile. So we do as well.
I do read the info cards. Which is why I asked the question. I play RepEx and have seen first hand the RM be trigger happy as I often work directly with the RM. That is how they RP. The RP is supported as far as the info cards are concerned. I have no problems with the RM RP. I support the RM. I fight with the RM.
The info card does not make any mention of Liberty Forces being hostile or even unfriendly. Yet 2 different RM players killed the same Liberty Police character today within 5 minutes of each other in NB with no system chat or any cause. You do not feel that is a tad trigger happy? The RM got a hold of Hoodlum and the issue is resolved.
Just putting that out there to show that info cards are not the whole of the law. Liberty and Rheinland do not get along. Neither force is welcome in the others systems. *shrugs*
I am getting tied of people jumping on my ass for very plainly spoken posts I make. Maybe if folks have issues with them they could pm me to see were I am coming from instead of making the kind of uninformed posts I get accused of making.
I M Ready's theory looks good.
HFuel is the cleanest fuel around, as Hydrogen when burned just produces water. Nuclear reactions using Plutonium and MOX are likely to lead to some emissions of nuclear waste.
Oxidisation of Deuterium is likely to lead to water emissions only, too, but would be less economical than H-fuel. (Higher density, so higher mass per energy released). However, impulse type engines would be better on Deuterium, as more mass (Deut >hydrogen) would mean a higher resultant opposing force when the fuel is pushed out of the engine, making it more effective for propelling it forward.
I believe heavy water (Deuterium Oxide) can be used in Nuclear reactions, but don't know enough about it.
It might also be noted that Light is, essentially, wasted energy, so the brighter a ships' trail, the less efficient it's engines are. However, I doubt Freelancer accepts this concept.
Also, it should be noted that energy release may not be the concept these engines work on. Impulse-based engines rely on pushing material out of the ship in order to propel it forward (like the recoil of a gun, or an ice-skater pushing on another ice-skater, and both of them moving in opposite directions).
I think we have to be careful applying scientific principles to freelancer, as it largely ignores all reality, arguably making it more fun.
"Burning" engines aren't going to be that helpful in space. there's no sound in space, and also nothing to push against.

Nah, the ships require fuel but for the sake of gameplay you're not required to refuel every 5 minutes. I guess if you want to get story based, you refuel every time you dock.
To be honest, I just put them together randomly. I have not that much knowledge about this.:P
However, Carlos, your text enlightens me pretty much. I think I could revise my theory and add more information about the engine types and maybe give them even names (Thanks NEXUS).
What confuses me is that the Kusari, who have easy access to H-Fuel, and nebulae blocking their stars, use what appears to be solar panels on their ships. Odd, eh?

Their engines may burn h-Fuel but that says nothing about the reactors on kusari ships. Kusari has very bright suns, it would certainly save on resources to use solar energy.
A vessels power plant and Engines do not have to be connected.
I think I'll start a project to identify all the engine types and classify their fuel sources so we can all have fun with technical mumbo-jumbo in our RP and keep it consistent.
