A movie I just saw and would highly recommend is Bunraku, an action movie that has gone under the radar despite a very interesting cast and a unique style of cinematography. Bunraku is set in a post-apocalyptic future, where all guns are banned in the aftermath of a devistating war. A small town is being terrorized by a powerful gang leader, the woodcutter Nicola, when two strangers come to town with seperate adgendas, but end up working together in normal bad-ass hero fashon. The movie is stylized to an extreme, but overall the effect pays off by helping the story to maintain a sort of comic book feel, similar to 'Sin City.' The lighting, sets and background all play off a paper-machet theme that gives the whole film unique and amazing look. The film has a surprisingly coherent and interesting story, but also has a lot of very well choreographed fight scenes. The two leads of the film do a really good job, and the secondary characters have a surprisingly stocked cast, including Ron Perlman, Woody Harrelson, and Demi Moore. Overall, the film is a neat, quirky comic-book style film with good actors in an amazing film setting.
