Lately, I've noticed that I seem to be going out of the way to avoid PvP. Not quite sure why; I've trained with good pilots, and they've all told me I'm reasonably talented and just need a little polish. Only way to get that polish is by regularly engaging the enemy. I dunno...the few games I've played online, I've always tended towards cooperative play rather than versus. Maybe it's from always losing in the beginning...
I mean, it's gotten a little silly...and fear and paranoia are not generally considered desirable emotional by-products of a game. So! I need to learn to embrace PvP as an integral part of the RP gaming experience, because it is. Has anyone else ever had similar misgivings toward PvP? Subconscious, that is, but nonetheless potent to the point of occasionally threatening to ruin the game for you?
DISCLAIMER: this may or may not be meaningful, and it may or may turn out that I just had a stressful day and applied that stress toward something other than its true source.:PNot trying to be whiney or anything, them's the breaks, kid, and all that...just wondering who else has felt that way.
PVP is a part of life here, odds may vary from time to time and the results as well..
You have posted this thread under the RP 24/7 Server sub forum rite?
So we need to feed battles with RP as much as we can..
I also tend to avoid PvP... Not afraid of it, really, but it's just not a priority. I also really hate spending an hour dogfighting because everyone has Mk8 armor upgrades and bots/bats out the wazoo...
I think I never had anything like that. PvP in Discoevery is forgivable, there is no death penalty and maximum you can lose is your cargo hold, which matters mostly to traders. PvP is essential in Freelancer universe. Everything revolves around it one way or another. Myself I like both PvE co-op and PvP, unfortunately Freelancer does not provide much PvE fun leaving mostly to PvP. Had there been a possibility for some more complex missions, some sort of quests that take you to the other side of Sirius, I would certainly love to do them, but as it stands now PvE aspect of Freelancer doesn't offer much.
Rules will never be enough to make PvP perfect, but we can still try.
LancerZero I suggest swallowing your pride, stealing your mind and going into any fight with guns blazing. Make it a good one not only for yourself but for the person you fly against. If you get blown up some cretins will rub it in your face in total disregard of the role they are playing, but others around here know better. And remember its ok to retreat if you plain don't like the person you are fighting, don't give them the satisfaction.
PVP....makes me shake...
I shake a lot, like, shivering..and it scares me a lot...
So, I try to avoid it...or at least find a fight I can perform decently in, but...fact is, I don't like shooting.
Try playing on a no RP server. Where it looks like this. Undock>Kill>Respawn>Undock>Kill>etc. When you play like that you make over 100 fights per hour. ( the reaosn why i left those servers ) But it does make you good in it and you wont have anytype of fear. As for me i love fighting, its what makes this game fun.
