The year 2007 was great for Discovery. In January, we had the Simulation Genre Award given out by Mod DB website, recognizing Discovery as the best mod for simulation game of the year 2006. On May 8, Discovery 4.83 was released, the most successful mod version so far that achieved the maximum number of downloads we had so far (more than 140,000). In the end of the year, on December 9, the latest Discovery Freelancer - version 4.84 - was released, bringing even more variety and depth into the familiar Discovery world. The new version gained more than 30,000 downloads in the first two weeks of its existence.
We became a number one server of all Freelancer servers by number of active players, according to Freelancer Global Server Rankings. We achieved to get as much as 128 players on the server simultaneously: a record documented by Korrd no more than a week ago. In addition to that, Discovery has entered the Mod DB's Top-100 best mods of Mod of the Year-2007 contest.
Our admin team had four new members joining, BULLDOGNK, Kane, Caylith, and Fellow Hoodlum. Unfortunately, one of our best and most devoted admins, Nightfall, has left the team in the end of the summer. There were disagreements, there were elusive cheaters whom we could not catch - for a while, and there were attacks agains the server in attempt to bring it down. Despite all difficulties, we are still working hard to bring you the best multiplayer Freelancer experience possible. The next year is very near, and you should expect more fun and more surprises coming.
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and stay with Discovery in 2008!
