Gates are owned by respective houses.

I fail to see the implication.
Quote:Valhalla Research scientists aboard the Dallas had begun the second phase of testing a new, long-range jump gate that would have allowed travel beyond the confines of the Sirius Sector -- and could have potentially opened the entire galaxy for exploration. Unfortunately, an unforeseen concentration of dark matter along the jump route created a feedback wave that not only destroyed the Dallas and everyone aboard, but expelled huge masses of dark matter and radioactivity.

In other words, to repeat the results of Dallas experiment, you have to open a hyperspace corridor through an anti-matter cloud of some unknown concentration, resonate with it, make it (anti-matter cloud) create a feedback wave, and that wave will give you what you want.

It has absolutely nothing to do with blowing up even active jump gates with open hyperspace tunnel, not talking about closed ones.

Exactly, it says nothing about blowing up jumpgates. Why repeat Dallas incident when you can create an incident of it's own.

However I think that if you blow up an inactive gate not much will happen. With a wormhole open? Who knows (collapsing stars come to mind).

I've also often wondered why Bretonia didn't just blow up the Leeds jumpgate.

You're losing a war, you implement a scorched Earth policy.

I think it's incorrect to compare the energy outburst from a destabilized wormhole and energy outburst from a feedback wave sent by antimatter cloud of cosmic scales.

Hell, we're getting destabilized wormholes once in a while - you all know jumpholes are sometimes collapsing. Yeah, few people died cause of that, but mainly because they were in them at that moment.

It'll never get implemented in disco)
Otherwise both Rheinland and Gallia (in future, I guess?) wouldn't really lose their wars. Gallia would just burn down every planet and station it managed to capture during it's advance (and I guess they'll capture some more, till other houses come to help), and Rheinland would just blow gates to Liberty. And story is dictated by the devs and their "scenario" (I think I'm right here?)

Fully active wormhole that looses anchor can end up anywhere, dark matter cloud or a center of a star.
