Outcast Gunboat FTW! I'll be sending it in for skinning/Hardpointing very soon. Anybody have questions, comments? See anything wrong, tell me now, don't whine about it when it's kicking your ass:lol:no more getting Gunboat-raped for Eppy. The Corsairs have some competition now.

don t take that wrong - but where is the front and where is the back?
edit: nm, i guess the narrow end is the front. ( but it would have been interesting to have the narrow end to be a long "tail" )
i like the design, goes well with the outcast DN. only problem i see is that it offers a very very little profile from the front ( in case its scaled along the size of the other gunboats ) - so if it is as long as a lunchbox - it will be like 1/5 of the size from the front. ( - ahh, or something about that, not like i ever had a corsair gunboat to know about it )
I thought that might come up, the angles on those pictures could be better. The front is the little thing. At the front. Um... damn, I don't know how to describe that one...:lol:The back is the much bigger part. Think like a Saber, but with a really, really big butt.
I designed it to have a low cross-section. The idea was to take on the Sair gunboat and the IMG gunboat, which also has a very low cross-section, on equal terms. This is designed for a Forward Gun, too, so it can handle bigger Gunboats with only six turrets. I figure, heck, the IMG get one, so can we, we're better engineers than they are anyway.

well, the IMG gunboat has no foreward gun - but its a bit too strong, imo ( i only know 2 gunboats - kusari and IMG ... and kusari has 4 front turrets + gun // IMG has 6 turrets that all fire into the front arc )
giving the outcasts a front gun is just natural - but how about an inferno style front gun? ( worth a thought? )
ps.: Think like a Saber, but with a really, really big butt.:crazy:such funny comparissons - but yea, i get what you mean
I've thought about an Inferno forward gun, and it's actually not a bad idea, though only on a gunboat...I remember when they tried to turn my last ship into one big Inferno...If we give it an ungodly high shield damage it'd make a great support unit, and still offer a MAJOR threat to those Corsair Gunboats:dry:Definitely worth a shot, I'll suggest it to Igiss when I send it in.
EDIT: Sorry, Xing, your post went up before me. Actually, it isn't domed, but it looks like it because of those three lines on the front end of it. That's actually the first part of the ship I made, everything is actually an extension of that six-sided block there, so it still has those three little lines. It looks a lot more natural without them, don't worry. That's actually a Kusariite concept, you can see it on my Battleship, too. I figured if we were going to borrow some technology Kusari would be the most likely, being the major house faction we're warring with. I thought it melded best with the Saber's design features, too...

not "ungodly" great - ratiowise, the fighter inferno is still the best - while the battleship inferno is rather inefficient ( comparing the damage increase with the energy increase ) - but something in the 20.000 - 26.000 ( so somewhere around cruiser inferno ) along with the energy usage of a common front gun + a limited arc would be good - besides, one can still just unmount the frontgun and install a lvl8 fighter gun anyway.
Actually, I was thinking something more along the lines of a gun with, say, eighty thousand shield damage and about two or three times a normal Forward Gun's damage. Remember, shields come back. The damage on a shieldbuster gun needs to be much higher to make it worthwhile, so that only one or two shots can drop the shields on a similarly sized ship, because that gun will be relied on to drop the shields now that it's there.

no, i think anything larger than 30k isn t really practical. keep in mind - the battleships inferno take around 450.000 energy - but only does 32.000 shield dam. - 80k damage would be about what maybe a cruiser frontal cannon could do ( liberty cruiser cannon, basicly a cannon with thrusters )
anyway - thats not to be discussed before the model is finished and ready to be put into the game. so rather pointless to discuss it:)( but fun )
edit: with that little "hut" as a bridge - it looks mightly like the kusari GB ....
