actually the traders are A.T.M like machines for the pie-rats... give them more weapons options. that will in fact, make the hunting more challenging for the rest :yahoo:

Mhm, well, mention that next time, 1,760,000 armour sounded ludicrous.
Also, why don't you count shield batts, shield and shield recharge while you're at it?
But okay, fair enough. Although it makes the Bison and other transports sound way stronger than they actually are, like Unselie says, money is still on the gunboat/bomber.

All you need is Type 3's and a nice chainfre with them.
Next step: Spam WASD (aka your strafing keys)
Next step: Move towards the next dockable friendly base
Next step: Shoot the pirate to force him to sacrifice shots for not taking damage
Next step: Dock.

Oh, sorry, I could have explained the formula the first time.
I was trying to point out that transports are tougher than they appear on a stats list. Also claims that a bomber can destroy a CAU8 Battletransports in less than a minute are very inaccurate. (3+ would be my estimation)
Counting shield bats and shield recharge is more complicated due to more variables but don't worry it only adds to survivability of a transport.
As for economy of armoring a transport it all comes down to personal preference and how much money can more expensive armor save you. It adds up over time.
I've spent about 2.5 billion credits armoring my transports. (I don't fly caps)

Problem ? I don't think so.
I read this as: Transports aren't allowed to win fights. For transports, modify 'win' to 'escape'
Well, from my personal experience, dropping cap6's on Hegemons and so forth, it boosts your chances, but you are essentially delaying the inevitable, especially when dealing with bombers.
As has been mentioned, your best bet is to just run away to the nearest base and dock, even with high cap armour.
Of course, cap armour makes you pretty good against Ptrans if you're a Battletransport or Hegemon with lots of cerberus.
