I was thinking about powertrading problems and while price of commodities are increased i think soon we will see huge number of cap ships.
Now anyone can buy anything and sell for thier profits. But if its possible that you will recive trade bonous on certain commodities only if you have proper id. For example, if a zoner vessel sell food on crete then they get 1000/unit while others will get 200/unit, ALG id gets bonus for selling Toxic waste, Junkers get bonous for scrap. Only mining corporation gets bonous for selling ores. If profitable commodities are only profitable for proper ID/IFF, and low profit commodities are available for all to trade, then it will be better.
High Profit = Max 15 mill with 5k cargo(24mins run)
Low Profit = Max 5 mill with 5k cargo(15 mins run)
Implementing these will reduce powertrading.
I have 4 transport and it will affect me a lot. Though i am proposing these for better future of discovery.
And even if you could, powertraders would just get a new ID for their ships. Their rouits would be inRP, but that wouldn't stop them from not caring about the RP.
Doesn't matter the cost, or how much money/hour you make powertrading, the people who no one wants in a capship will still get their capships. Price increased, profit nerfs, etc., all they do is hurt the average player, not cut down on capwhoring. Trading profits were increased intentionally, and I think they should stay that way,
Quote:We do not need a solution to Power traders. Most stop power trading as soon as they get ship they want. That is only solution needed.
Exactly what I've been saying for quite a while now.
Make the prices of all ships $0.
Watch the powertraders dissapear.
Problem?
Then all you want to do is keep Discovery like an MMORPG.
And I feel that is the way it will stay, due to -some people- here feeling high and mighty because they lead 'guilds' or 'clans' and the top control the mood of the entire thing.

I dont know much about coding thought it would be similar to mining with proper id iff ship and turrets, but in greater aspect.
Routes in rp. Yes that is what i wish it should be.
I dont think people will stop when they get a cap. I have 10+ bs, 4+ cruisers,4+ gbs, 5+ trasports, liners fighters and more. Did i stop trading? I trade in rp but i hate to see unaffilated 5k transports or oorp routes. Making this will give advantage pirate too as they also will have selextive rp and cause.
However if its not possible to implement then... *sigh*
Not to troll at all....but....wasn't the point of this to stop capwhoring? Yet.....you...have.....10+ BS, etc? Ummmmmmmmmmmmm........its fishy XD
Les keep it the way it is. I try to powertrade but don't have a need for any caps, so I just conserve money to buy various ships, change weapons layouts, create interesting indy char's and the like. I dont own any caps actually....not like thats a medal or anything. Its just a thing for some ppl.
If the problem are caps, then just nerf them so they can get hunted down with fighters JUST LIKE IN EVERY OTHER GAME!
But the idea seems pretty neat, it seems to make trading and circling the whole map a bit more worth it.
EDIT: Vanilla freelancer, Freespace, heck even in Star Wars Fighters can own Cap ships, don't remember them all right now, but in most games fighters eat cap turrets or simply pwn the caps themselves.

Begging your pardon, but what other games would you be referring to? A swarm of fighters can still take down any of my cruisers with ease. Granted, that's partially due to my horrendous PvP skills, but the point remains.
With regards to the OP; as an avid OSC powertrader, I LOVE the idea. It may not cut down on the problems you outlined, but it would provide for some new and interesting trade routes which, in turn, would diversify the playerbase and give certain systems and routes some much-needed use.
However, there is the issue of balance (and, of course, whether something like this is actually possible and implementable). You would effectively have to make each route completely equal, or everyone would flock to a certain Faction/ID.
Having capships is not a point here. Despite having all those caps i dont join on raids. I buy caps because thats only thing i can fight with( due to heavy lag and my bad connection ).
Forcing traders to fly in Rp routes will result good rp situations i belive. We will then see bunch of players in particular places.
I know its hard to implement, but what devs done before was also very hard. Yes its hard but not unachivable
