But making them over 30 would make them a target for those VHFs/GBs/big ships that like picking on easy targets.
They should be a target. As a LPI Officer in my dinky patriot you can see me anytime running like crazy from the people that bring a big ship to the party. The point of playing a low levl LPI is not to protect yourself from over level 30's by being under level 30. At least I hope it's not, any large contact my patriot cant handle will be avoided like the plague with lines such as "Call the navy boys, I ain't gettind paid to get killed" or my NPC fav "This is too much, need to bug out"
We shouldnt be flying these weaker ships to protect ourselves from others.
Edit I just realised that if I was over level 30 in NY I wouldnt be able to fight that Xeno in Colorado unless he attacked me. Yeah that would suck. Perhaps the level where people can RP/PvP should be lowered instead to 20/25. I give up:)
"First Offense : no less than 7 days in the prison system; possible loss of credits/guns
Second Offense : obviously this is the work of a sadistic serial killer who should receive the death penalty. Deletion of the character from the server." ( Xoria )
wow - dictatorship much? .. how about "first offense: a friendly warning" / "second offense: a not so friendly warning" / "third offense: since you like shoothing others, others like shooting you, too - switch all factions to RED!"
locking a char for 7 days - and then delete it - we DO want players to have fun, do we? again i d like rules to be there to HELP the players more than to hurt them. what about the veteran player that steps out of a tradelane and collides a newbie to death. common accident - but hey - could be reported. catch a bad day and you ll find yourself in the prisonsystem for 7 days.
a capital ship fight between veterans - newbies - REAL newbies will be fascinated by the colourful fireworks of such huge warships - and they will sometimes forget to dodge that gleaming bolt that is coming towards them at a speed of 1600/second -> dead newby ( console message: newbie was killed by [insert name] )

Hail all, I am pretty new to these parts, but on my first day passing through Fort Bush with a heavy load of ore hard earned with countless hours of mining in Colorado I stopped to watch this massive battle taking place between LSF, SA and a few of what I have been told are not very savory people.
I was parked in my shiny new rhino watching what some would call one heck of a fireworks show or maybe what the old timers would call a drive in movie when all of the sudden the battle rolled my way and I was stunned and couldn't move as some sort of mine full of radiation was dropped right next to my ship, I tried to run but alas I was dead in space waiting for a hospital ship to come by and pick me up and take me back to Manhatten for medical recovery. It was one heck of a experience on my first day in the new system.
I will not forget that moment and use it as a lesson learned to get the heck out of the way when the .... hits the fan *chuckle*.
//Now I would be rather dissapointed if someone were to report a player if they died because of this. I just laughed about it and went back to mining, wrong place wrong time. I would also think it was rather petty if someone reported someone for dumping a tradelane and ramming a new person killing them, it isn't like they tried to do it. Accidents happen and people should be above that. We should not need to be calling the server police all the time, people need to police themselves.
I know I am pretty new here but my experience has been nothing but great. I was a little intimidated at first with all the rules, and roleplay requirements. I read them all and played the SP version of the mod for about 20 hours before I decided to jump into the MP version and have had nothing but a blast. Thank you all for the great server.
Keep the rules simple and to the point and strongly enforce them and my opinion is that things will be fine.
I really dont think under lvl 30 killing is a massive problem.
I describe under levels as who come on the system and work hard for hours to get to level 30 and higher.
I do not believe that this title goes to people who go out of the way to maintain level 28 and lvl 29.
(That is not RP!!!)
Can some one name any offenders on this server who are killing under lvl 30's for fun ??? Let me know and I will make sure their lives are very miserable on Discovery. I am sure all LSF and SA will also help me make sure that that player doesnt ever try that again. Rather than letting admins deal with it, we can have local police (SA/RM etc etc) cover that on second tier.. Attack any one who kills lil ones. Then let admin take care of the rest.
And small ships....dont ram and fire upon high level ships after repeated warnings..
Attacking above level players when you are below level 30 isn't against the rules as far as I can tell, but once you do you are considered to be an avaible target and are, frankly, screwed.

allmost .... a higher level player may only "defend himself" when the attacker drained his shields by at least 50%. it does not say that he can /is allowed to defend when the low level player repeatedly spins him around or simply shoots endlessly with useless justice mk1 on him. it won t hurt the higher level - but its utterly annoyhing not to mention ooRP - however, you must not shoot him back.... you might shoot a rulesquoter then and find yourself being reported.
There can always be a misunderstanding when it comes to little guys getting killed. Juice was blown up because he got too close to a fight. Last night in Texas, a one LPI.Matt.Myers was killed a couple of times from stray fire. Yes, he was underlevel, but none of us were actively pursuing/engaging him. If you want to ...er...watch the fire expect to get burned.
Yeah, it'll show up on console that so and so was killed by so and so. If it was an accident then no biggie. Unfortunately we've had a rash of players who are killing little guys for the fun of it. Meaning, actually hunting them down. I'd hate to have had anyone last night get in trouble for Matt getting blown up. Or for Juice getting killed. I'd like to have PvP turned back on if we can keep the other guys in check.
By the way, whoever Matt.Myers is...damn good roleplay. It was very, very, very good. I was quite impressed.
I have a problem with that.....I do not like being annoyed. I am not talking about a accidental shot I am talkinag about a continuing attack. Doing passes, shooting me again and again. after 2 warning have been given to him by me. One after each set of shots hitting my hull. He has two choices...Quit or Die.
I am willing to receive any punishments admins need to give me.
(one time a noob startied attacking me and after repeated warnings, I moved my rig to BUffalo....he followed. Needless to say the rogues ate him alive in badlands.)
Caylith give me the names of these Hunters so I can give them something to hunt.
Okay, if players are annoying you and not doing anything to play the game themselves....take screenshots of the warnings, send them to us ...and if the guy just so happens to get 'hurt' ...oops. If PvP is turned back on in NY, the ones who try to ram you will kill themselves anyway. That's always fun.
50%? So if I am sitting in Texas and some idiot in a Starflier decides to start shooting me, I have to wait till my shields are half gone before I can obliterate him?
